Jaxx Liberty, a crypto wallet
Jaxx is a lightweight wallet capable of managing a multitude of different crypto-assets. Developed by the Canadian company Decentral Inc., the Jaxx portfolio enjoys a certain longevity since it has existed since 2014. Its new version, called Jaxx Liberty, is focused on accessibility and ease of use.
The software wallet is available on both computer and mobile and supports more than 85 different digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Zcash (ZEC).
Like its competitor Exodus, Jaxx Liberty is not open-source although parts of the code are publicly available.
Pros
- It is a cross-platform wallet: it is available both as a computer program, a mobile application and a Chrome extension. This gives the user the ability to pair multiple devices to use the same accounts.
- An integrated exchange function for exchanging cryptocurrencies without having to leave the program.
Cons
- Its closed source operation, which makes it less secure than open-source wallets.
- Competitive multi-currency portfolios that do better in terms of the choice of crypto-assets: Exodus on computer and Edge on mobile.
- The internal exchange of cryptocurrencies goes through ShapeShift, a service that requires registration and identification.
