I'm not sure if there's a trick to this but we've had very conflicting results. They are easy to open and sit on the cup. There's also plenty of space for coffee and water, so there's a healthy margin of error if you're a clumsy guy like me. However, this is where all good reviews end. The first took over 7 minutes to brew and the water got too cold, while the second only took 2 minutes. After an 8 day hike we spent about £30 to make 16 cups of coffee. In various tests and controls, we tried to pre-wet the filter (once hot, once cold). We also increased the water temperature. There should be some kind of film in there that melts with hot water, but doesn't melt constantly from filter to filter because we've had such varied results. It was cheap and easy. , but I don't want to work that hard for my coffee, especially when I'm working at camping.
