Review on Tire Pressure Monitoring System Sensor - Dorman 974-002 for Specific Vehicle Models by Gordon Turman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great way to save $293

My local tire shop offered me $473 to replace the tire pressure sensors on my 2005 Ford Exploder so I bought this TPMS from Revain for $140 and another tire for $10 to have installed. for the wheel. This place didn't know how to program the sensors so I used several online sources to figure out how. Putting the car into 'learning mode' was fairly easy, but actually connecting the sensors and computer was a bit tricky. Dorman's customer service was fantastic and provided some information that I was missing - the sensors have to be 'awake' to program them and you can wake them up after driving for a while. I bought a Ford tool that was supposed to program the sensors but it didn't work. What finally worked was a ring magnet removed from a magnetic pickup I had at the store. In learn mode, a magnet is placed on each valve stem in sequence, starting with LF. Connecting the sensor takes about five seconds, but then you hear a short beep and you move on to the next valve stem. The trick to this whole business is to set up a tire shop inexpensively - you can do the rest yourself IF you have a large enough ring magnet. And five stars to Dorman for excellent customer service - toss them a dime if you need help.

Pros
