Better than In.: Wireless Access Points

Aruba for victory. As a longtime ubiquiti AP integrator and user, I decided to try Aruba Instant online. After playing with the install for almost an hour, I was hooked. Now I've used about 50 of them. The integrated cloud controller is great. I will mention that you can manage this locally through the web interface. I would equate them with the ubiquitous performance. I wish it had ubiquitous styling and editing, but the user interface more than makes up for it. It's about time Aruba launched…

Very easy to use and great performance

I installed two of these hotspots in our RV and I liked them so much I'm adding a third to cover the back of the pitch. Incredibly affordable at $65 and easy to set up. The mesh network was up and running in less than 5 minutes. The control interface is very convenient; it has everything you need and nothing more. It's designed so you don't need to be a WiFi geek to get it working or understand the performance metrics on the control screens. I use a PoE injector to power them. Note that they do

Basic but limited Suitable for computers and accessories

I bought these access points for home use. I wanted something more functional than what my ISP is offering me, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on corporate WiFi. There are limitations, for example if you limit the network speed, you only have preset speeds to choose from. I've had limited success asking for their assistance. One feature that works really well is grid generation. I set up a second access point and was very fortunate to connect it wirelessly as a repeater.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Very expensive

Great Hot Spot!

I bought this as a test to replace Ubiquiti AP-AC-LITE and I am NOT disappointed! This AP was very easy to set up, had no issues with Power over Ethernet from a standard PoE switch, and is much faster than UI Lite. I will buy more high end devices to replace more UI hardware.

Best in Price Range

So I installed several Ubiquiti Unifi sites with different access points (lite, pro and mesh m). I was very curious about these APs when they were delivered to me and I was able to get one for testing very cheaply. I ran some speed and range tests and my Unifi AP AC Lite that I compared performed it across the board. Please note that I tested on the same channels, same configurations in width and on the same client. All. I have gigabit internet. apac lite pulls 360Mbps down and 400Mbps up. This

Pros
  • Power Supply: AP11 APs can be powered via Power over Ethernet (802.1af Class 2) or a local 12V power supply. There are two ordering options depending on which power supply mode you choose. This model (R3J21A) is a power supply that comes with a power adapter. A device-only model (R2W95A) is also available, more suitable if you are deploying PoE or already have a power adapter.

Not all Instant Ons are created equal

was damaged. So right now I have a problem with the entire Aruba Instant-On ecosystem. It doesn't work as advertised as I bought them in addition to the AP11D and the experience wasn't promised. Number 1 - MAKE SURE YOU BUY IT WITH A POWER ADAPTER UNLESS YOU ARE USING POE. Anything but the Aruba PSU and you're prone to power cycling which is PAINFUL on them as it takes them FOREVER to come back. Number 2 - Literally buy everything else. Spend your money on something that doesn't upset you, like
