BlueDriver Compression Tester Kit

I've only used it once but it's high quality for a Chinese made tool. I bought this to check the compression on my F150 5.4L and it worked great. It can be used with almost all gas engines and has a good carrying case to keep up with all the parts, which is very important when you are carrying the case to where you are using the tool and when you are done with it, the tools again to use, they will always be there, convenient to use next time.

Pros
  • High marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Not impressed. Air release valve is unreliable and cheap o-rings

Just got this and had to try it on an old SBC. About half the time after the engine started, the needle wouldn't stay in place, so you had to fiddle with it, plug in the charger, and keep cranking. it looked like spaghetti. I switched it to nitrile and it still looked new after the other five cylinders.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Protection

Good price Good kit Great design

Bluedriver OBD II Purchase I bought it by mistake. This compression tester must have been a special option test. a little sneaky. But good price. Very nice sensor Wide range of adapters for quick detachable modules 1 straight 1 angle push. 4 flat adapters with threaded plugs and unique detachable hose. Compared to standard hose crimp. I will compare to my US General Module kit. Looks like I'll leave this bluedriver kit with a more attractive look and design. I will check which tester is more…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • No automatic

good sentence. Does what you expect.

Helped point me in the right direction when troubleshooting a misfire (after eliminating the usual suspects). Air into a low compression cylinder and hear where it goes. Exhaust valve broken. A borescope inspection followed for confirmation and to get cool shots. In hindsight, I should have bought a differential compression tester instead. If you don't have a WiFi endoscope, consider using one.

Pros
  • handy article
Cons

Mechanic said - Pressure and vacuum tester

I need a new engine because I have a misfire on a #6 Ford 4.6L V8, Me; How can that be, the engine has 150000 on the clock, mechanic; Well, it just happens sometimes, I; I think I'll get a second opinion and take the time to do a compression test, enter the Blue Driver Compression Tester Kit, compression was tested at around 170-180psi in all 8 cylinders, me; Ok what next, clean jets, look at jet number 6, reading is different than the rest, replace jet (about $55), purrs like a kitten, thanks…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Functionality

Great, exactly.

I love this compression gauge. I've had 3 testers so far and this one is by far the best. The port cargo tester was rubbish and read about 30psi at actual compression. Garbage. The second tester was a Bosch device which I bought for a lot more than this tool. Or he stayed about 4 months and then started giving me weird testimonials. Now the reading is about 10psi less than this tester. O-rings deteriorated and didn't last long. You can tell the o-rings are thicker and better quality than my…

Pros
  • nice touch
Cons
  • A little maintainability

Received used scratched caliber, crappy customer service, return.

I didn't like the fact that I paid for a new compression test kit but got scratched, greasy marks on the gauges and a torn box from someone else. It was also noted that the valve connecting the hose was defective and the pressure release button seemed very cheap as if there was no quality control in the design. Sure, it comes in a fancy body, chrome hardware and all, but the bottom line is that they've sacrificed the most important part, the sensor, a feature you're paying for that doesn't live

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Cheap and served its purpose

Tired of getting this just because others have had gauge problems but I've never had them. I didn't test anything with high pressure either, my jeep's range is 120-150 and the gauge had no problem maintaining the reading and keeping it static until you cleaned it. Nice case to keep everything together and portable/ easy to store. My only complaint and the reason I deducted 1 star is that there is no easy way to fully tighten the mismatched spark plug hose adapters. The adapter I used on my Jeep

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Good but not great
