Excellent value for money - works as well as the more expensive ones

I restore and repair bikes and have bought several sets from this seller. These hex head mounting screws are much easier to install and remove than the old 14mm screws. You don't need a dust cap with them, so don't worry if the old dust caps are missing or damaged. My only wish is that they be offered in solid silver instead of black rubber.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Easy to cut when installing!

They are broken. I had a pair of scissors complete and others started cutting as I installed them. See image. This damage occurred at a torque well below Shimano's recommended torque for the crank bolts on the bottom brackets. I see another user shearing off these bolts while riding, so I'm not the only one. Proper installation technique will shear or loosen these screws significantly. They are dangerous.

Pros
  • In manufacturer's retail packaging.
Cons
  • Expensive

Lost the dust cap on the cranks. This is the best substitute.

I bought a new bike that used plastic dust caps on the cranks. I lost one on my first trip. I looked for new dust caps but found that they can replace the crank bolts. I feel like they really rated my bike. I think they are actually cheaper than dust caps! Can't comment on durability but they seem good. They fucked well. The heads did not open or round when I tightened them.

Pros
  • Material: 45# silver plated
Cons
  • Discontinued

These screws are well made and have a FLAT base and no "bulge" so they don't pull the tapered tip into the pedal arm and expand it to form a bell and require a puller to tighten the arm remove. If your cone "bottoms out" when using these flat head screws and the pedal arm is still loose, then either the cone is bent or the pedal arm has grown. It can get tight at times, but soon your new propeller will loosen, spin and you'll be (again) holding the pedal lever on a desert road. The gun is…
