I recommend buying the same Steelman adapter as he did.

The square end works well in the F-150's spare tire winch. First I tried. that the 1/2" drive end does not have enough play as none of my 1/2" drive wrenches or adapters will fit unless the drive end plating and material is cleaned. Otherwise it works as advertised. I recommend buying the same adapter. by Steelman because it has a hex socket end.

Pros
  • Used to remove and install under vehicle mounted spare tires. The working end is a 3/8 inch square head. And avoids damage to tools and spare wheel lifters.
Cons
  • No automatic

Great item if you know you need a different part to make it work.

Like the others mentioned, this tool only fits in the hole to rotate the rod, but doesn't come with anything connected to the end to allow you to rotate it. Some were able to use a socket to plug it into the turning hole, mine had a hole that was a little small for it so I took its nozzle and hammered it in and it's a great life saver. Some have been clever and, as mentioned, have used a vise for turning, which works well. Note, however, that finding a tool to rotate this item will require youโ€ฆ

Pros
  • The handle provides enough torque to prevent damage to tools and spare tire jacks.
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

Fits 07 F150 - Tools & Equipment

Perfect fit 07 F150 XL, I don't see any wear after first use (empty, lifting with tyres). It has a small hole on the white end that I made slightly larger and drilled the other side so I can poke it with a medium screwdriver to rotate it. Others have had better luck with voice overs, but it's a circle so they can slip off.

Pros
  • Fitment Type: Vehicle specific
Cons
  • Almost never

I recommend buying the same Steelman adapter as he did.

The square works well in the F-150 spare wheel winch. I tried it for the first time. But I found that the 1/2" drive end didn't have enough clearance as none of my 1/2" drive wrenches or adapters would fit without cleaning the plating and material from the drive end. Otherwise it does what is advertised. I recommend buying the same adapter from Steelman as it has a hex end for the socket.

Pros
  • The handle provides enough torque to prevent damage to the tool and spare tire jack.
Cons
  • Something different

Requires changes.

Need a pole to lower the spare tire on my 2004 F350. This tool worked, but not without making some changes. Other reviews said they only used a 3/8" ratchet on the end to drive it, the tool I got had a 7/16" drive. So I had to cut out a 1/2" extension to fit the 7/16" disc. The other end didn't fit into my anti-theft outlet, which also required some grinding, drilling, and a locking pin to keep the outlet from falling into the conduit. Other sizes may be available for specific applications, I'm

Pros
  • The tool must be used with the CTA 4357 handle. The square drive between the handle and the tool is 12 mm. You cannot and should not use percussion instruments with this system.
Cons
  • Cable shorter than others
