Useful tool to minimize edge damage

I was very frustrated with the damage to the edges of the discs I used for my metal sanding blocks. This block works great with softer metals and I don't have to spend time repairing damaged edges. While I can't get rid of my metal blocks, I definitely needed to add this to my toolbox. Try it and you will see. In addition, the price is reasonable

Pros
  • APPLICATIONS: Ideal for jewelry makers, coin makers, metalsmiths, jewelers and some repair work.
Cons
  • Available in white only

This is a great domed block for those just starting out in smithing and/or jewelry making. It's wood, so remember that it can only be used on soft metals like pure silver (no silver alloys), copper, gold, aluminum, brass, etc. Thinner materials, of course. It won't ruin the finish if you're careful. Personally, I like it because it's compact and fits nicely in my home watchmaker's phone booth, and I've used it to repair plate dents or even straighten wheels. A steel wrap kit won't work in this…

Pros
  • DAPPING BLOCK: These tools are ideal for forming, shaping and stamping soft metal blanks.
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other pickaxes

Great block for the price

I love my dapping block! It's available and works well for my needs. I like it more than the metal blocks because of the sound, but there are side effects, such as one but two hits! ;-Pit is also great for those who don't know if they really need a dapping block or if they don't need it very often. It's an expensive device to pick up and try, or save for those rare moments when you need it. Even if you get a metal later you will still find a use for your wood, love it for my late night projects

Pros
  • DOME: The block has 6 different sized hemispherical cutouts, one on each side. The dome diameter ranges from about 1-1/8 to about 1-9/16 or 33-48 mm.
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
