Powerful WiFi Hotspot!

High performance wireless access point. It's pretty amazing. Full bars at 250+ feet (location line). You can use up to 8 separate SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz plus a guest network! And it's FAST! Fully customizable. Enables bandwidth management that automatically offloads higher-bandwidth traffic (e.g., video) to the uncongested 5 GHz band. I was really impressed with what this thing can do. The only thing that upset me was that I didn't know there was no DHCP server. It's just an access point.

Pros
  • Band Steering for increased bandwidth
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Access point suitable for network products

Big powerful box. Should be black or stain resistant. It was difficult to keep the device clean when it was difficult to mount and clean the device from dirt.

Pros
  • Supports 2.4 GHz mesh network
Cons
  • Uninsured

Stay away! - Wireless Access Points

I bought 2 of these units for my garden. Setup was difficult. The user interface is not very user friendly. Reception is terrible on all channels just a few feet away. There is no user error here. I've installed dozens of others and this unit was by far the worst. I even called their tech support and their voicemail was full, not to mention they are not quick to respond to resolve issues. In general, a failure!

Pros
  • Up to 29dBm transmit power on 2.4 and 5GHz bands
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Two devices with the same vulnerability in the EnGenuis ENH1750EXT

The first device worked well for four years. It got funny on the fifth and died. Radio reception seems to be one of them. The second unit worked fine for three days and died. This time it seems to be the interface between the radio part and the part that connects to the internet. I hired a guy who is our charter school's IT guy and runs 53 hotspots with a thousand computers using this system. I haven't messed anything up with a single box. He seems to understand everything, but I'm having a…

Pros
  • 802.11n WLAN up to 450Mbps in the 2.4GHz band
Cons
  • ---

The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that the antennas were loose even when tightened with a strap. I quickly found that the antenna mounts were loose from the inside. This hotspot kept crashing with the original firmware, clients kept losing Wi-Fi connection and some management functions did not work properly. After updating to the latest version it fixed some of my complaints and so far it has been working fine for the past 9 months.

Pros
  • Fast roaming on both bands
Cons
  • So-so

Don't waste your time

We have installed several of these Engenius 1750 APs and they are terrible. They are listed as range APs but are not. Even with a clean field line, you won't get 500 yards. Additionally, devices fail when there are more than 10 users per 1 SSID. Users get connection errors or wrong password and it is very frustrating. We have tried everything. Engenius shut down their tech support line because their products were terrible. So once you figure out how bad they are, you can't call anyone for help.

Pros
  • IP68 waterproof case
Cons
  • Damaged

Defective unit in Computer and Accessories

This article was defective. My IT pro asked EnGenius to work on it for 30 minutes and he agreed. So is this device not covered by the extended warranty like the others?

Pros
  • 3 detachable omnidirectional antennas 5 dBi 2.4 GHz; 3 detachable 7 dBi 5 GHz omnidirectional antennas. Automatic channel selection
Cons
  • too stupid
