Loved the look at first sight. It would be nice to have instructions on how to put the tips in, what each tip is for etc. I'm just not happy with being in the dark on how to properly use your new item. If you're buying this as a gift for a beginner learning the craft of calligraphy, just note that there are NO instructions or usage examples! Spend more money on a how-to book.

When I learned to write as a kid in the 50's and it was a pen. I'll take that up again, and it's absolutely true that our teachers said they taught you how to properly italicize, which the just-invented ballpoint (ballpoint) pen can't reproduce. They were right, and while I wasn't particularly interested in calligraphy, I found handwriting to be beneficial to their use.

My daughter bought this for her friend who loves calligraphy!💛. She loves to write calligraphy on her homemade cards and tags! This beautiful set consists of a pen, an ink bottle and a set of nibs. She says it works well and although she is a beginner she loves the pen and the many tips! Writes beautifully!💛 Beautifully packaged so it definitely became a lovely sweet gift! Need a pen to mark my copper garden stake labels with white ink. Regular fine point white ink pens clogged up after a single use and I didn't want to refill the ink liner with white ink, too expensive and too infrequent a use for such a solution. I tried a dip grip I had laying around and it was inadequate. THIS pen was perfect for writing white calligraphy ink on copper labels and simply washed off. The perfect solution! I see dip grips as fun and versatile for many other uses.

The kit is exactly as described and neatly packaged. However, I (personally) prefer my fountain pen and speedball nibs. To me, the Speedball pen's shape is more comfortable than the Hethrone pen, and the Speedball nibs have reservoirs that hold a lot more ink, so you have a lot less dipping. It's been many years since I've done calligraphy, so maybe I just don't have the practice. They might be perfect for someone else, but for non-practitioners or beginners I would recommend the Speedball…

Great gift set, good value for money. Although there are no instructions, replacing the nib is quite easy if you know calligraphy pens. I love the fact that all but one of the nibs have a small indentation in each nib where ink can stay/pool as you write. 5 of these springs have a closed recess but the other 5 don't, so be careful with them. The other nib, already attached upon arrival, is a real dip pen nib that needs to be dipped more often than the others as it has no indentation just a tiny
