Important Implementation Information

If your project requires multiple sensors, remember that you only need to use one splitter board for multiple sensors. Just be careful with the current draw across all sensors.

Pros
  • Temperature Sensors and Sensors
Cons
  • Expensive

Worked as hoped

I don't have much experience with Arduino or ESP8266, but I learned how to set up the D1 mini, installed Tasmota and set up a household helper quite easily. The temperatures appear to be accurate and stable. I would recommend it to any other botanist.

Pros
  • Test, measure and verify
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Not entirely waterproof

To test my temperature reader, I submerged the device in ice water and left it there for about an hour. It turned out not to be very waterproof and the RPM would drop and require a VCC wire reset to bring it back to life. Glad there was a second one. It's supposed to regulate the temperature of the fridge, which is usually pretty humid, so we'll see if it lasts long.

Pros
  • Temperature and humidity
Cons
  • unreliable

Not quite waterproof

To test my temporary reader, I submerged it in ice water and left it there for about an hour. It turned out not to be very waterproof and the RPI dropped and required a VCC wire reset to bring it back to life. Glad there was a second one. It's designed to regulate the temperature of the fridge, which is usually quite humid, so we'll see if it lasts.

Pros
  • With this adapter kit
Cons
  • you can easily connect a waterproof temperature sensor to your project. There are other interesting options.
