Description of Efficient 110V/250W Deluxe Tire Grooving Iron Tool for Superior Results

This 250 watt pistol grip grooving iron works well as a heated siper also. Made in the U.S.A. by Ideal Heated Knives. 110 volt powered makes this simple to plug in at the garage or use with a small generator at the track. A number 4 head and blades are included with a variety of other width heads and blades available. 6 blade siper head 91082063 also fits this grooving iron to speed up siping.

Works great - tire and wheel tools

This cutter comes with a #4 head and blades. Its width is 3/16 inch to 1/4 inch when cutting rubber. I cut the outer grommets on my Nitto Trail grippers. The factory grooves are almost completely worn out. This makes them slightly wider than the factory. Worked great. Make sure you allow the device to warm up for the recommended time before you start cutting and move slowly while cutting. This is not a race car.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Out of style

Far away. cool man.

Works well with tips from other reviews. I used this tool to regroove a set of tires and then gobble them up. Regrooving requires a lot of work, and the slit is very easy. If all you want to do is cut tires, this tool gets the job done all day with ease. I found that using a propane torch (plumber style) to preheat the next section of tire made the hands a lot easier and the job quicker. The saw will cut without preheating, but you will need to move more slowly as the rubber takes longer to…

Works like an amulet (what amulet?)

I finally got a chance to use it and if you follow the "T" instructions (but no fun at all) it works like magic. It takes some pressure, but it's important that it heats up and gets hot well, along with slow, steady, firm pressure without trying to tear through. Runs, heats up, REALLY hot and cuts a nice groove that looks factory. Also, the packaging said it was made in the USA. I was looking at a map of China and couldn't find this city? Strange. It doesn't matter, well made and works as…

Great tool! I wish I had bought earlier.

no complaints. I've watched a few YouTube videos about grooving and siping, I was a little worried about ruining the hoops and grooving too deep. I used a needle to feel the depth of the steel radials to make sure there was enough rubber left when adjusting the height. I measured the grooves and bought the right knife. The tool cut through cold 30 degree tires like butter, I was able to re-shoulder my lead tires, reverse the blade and sipe the tread blocks which had a huge impact on…

I bored my BF Goodrich KM2 tires with the Ideal Tire Groover

. Grooving your own tires is incredibly easy and the Ideal Tire Groover is great for the job. I have deflated my BF Goodrich KM2 tires for winter traction with this device and have had no problems (you flip the blade over to use as a shim). This definitely takes a long time (you can't rush), and make sure you get a pair of good but cheap thick gloves before using them (I accidentally touched the hot component with the side of my finger and my gloves got ahead of me saved from a bad one). burn).

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Quality

This is a very well made product that works great! Used it to spin R4 tires on a compact tractor. The only thing I will change is the square nuts that hold the blades to the head. They are too small and when you tighten the blade clamp screw they twist and don't fit well on the shoulder on the head. It takes some effort to push the tire through the rubber and works best when the tires are room temperature or warmer. Also, the underside of the head will collect a small amount of rubber debris…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

This is the tool you need for grooving and grooving!

Great tool. We are made in the USA. Worth every penny if you need to change the grooves or slots in your tires. I used this to convert a set of Goodyear RV street tires (245/70r19.5) to an f450 all terrain tire. It's a significant amount of work to slit and re-cut a set of six tires (took about 30 minutes per tire), but it saved me an absurd $450 per Michelin mud and winter tire. Flap cutting is much faster than grooving. I'm not sure I would try grooving or grooving passenger tires where there

Don't be afraid of this tool, it works great!

I confess that when I was young I was part of a racing team in the Sports2000 class. Later in different club levels SCCA running categories. That means this tool is nothing new to me. I've cut hundreds of race and DOT tires over the years. I was pleased to discover that this new version may be exactly the same as the one I used so much in the 80's. Warms up in ten minutes and stays warm for as long as you need it. The included blades are still amazing, even better than before. You keep the…
