Good Quality Inexpensive Crimping Tool

Right out of the box I tried it on 20AWG and 18AWG crimping machines and cables for VW Audi coil connectors. VICTORY! I have several much more expensive multi die crimping machine sets and haven't been able to get a good hold of the brush section and a good torch. I've found my new favorite tongs. Most crimps I work on are 18-22AWG with gaskets. This crimping tool performs very well, especially when compared to crimping tools 5 times more expensive.

Almost perfect, but it's misaligned and ruining curls.

Due to the design of this crimping machine, not all crimps will be perfect. The jaws remain parallel to each other as they should. But the jaws move relative to each other. The tools are perfectly aligned at first, but see the attached photo. If it starts to crimp, the jaws are definitely misaligned and this can easily lead to bad crimps if you're not very careful! I'm not sure if my tools are buggy or if they are all like that.

  • Few competitors

  • No machine

About 4 years ago I bought a pack of 150 2-8 way connectors for my car projects and builds. After trying to use them I threw them into the draw as they never really screamed. Somehow I saw a YouTube video showing how to use them and you need this tool. Oh you really really need this tool. Trimming my corks is now perfect and easy and I couldn't believe how useless I was in the past. all watertight electrical connections

Good quality - hand tool

These crimping pliers are great for crimping Delphi 280 connectors I've never done this before and was worried I'd ruin a pair before I got it right but it did worked a champion from day one. I'll add that while I find this tool great for DIYers, I'd buy something more powerful if I used it for a living. Anyway, I'll probably crimp about 50 terminals in my current project before it ends up in a drawer with other tools that I almost never use again.

Incorrect calibration dimensions!

Product design and execution is painfully lacking in several areas! As shown in the image (same size red rectangles added for reference), the jaws on the right are mislabeled and the 18-14 and 24-20 crimps are swapped (24-20 should be smaller than 18-14 as they are on the labeled left jaw). I really doubt that either of them are right. In addition, the latch does not close cleanly and opens easily. This is how the crimp tool works, but the crimp isn't "factory". each crimp is offset to one…

Jaw Alignment Frustration

As stated by others, jaw alignment was disrupted from the start. This is an interesting problem because of the way the shirring arm was designed. The two jaws don't really match, they approach offset (meaning the two mating surfaces don't match properly). The two jaws are forced to align when the crimping tool is fully closed, but this causes one side of the jaws to slide over the connector before it aligns properly and can interfere with the crimp. This is really not optimal, especially with…

Weather Pack is not failsafe

I've built over a MILLION terminals at work and that's no exaggeration. I speak from real experience. The manner in which the Weather Pack terminals are crimped will affect the STRAIGHTNESS of the plug and socket terminals in the assembled plug and socket. And no matter how carefully I tried to use needle nose pliers, the connectors came out BIG, making mating the jack and plug much more difficult if not impossible. BOTH ENDS of the terminal must be bent and crimped AT THE SAME TIME. This tool…
