I have a cat that keeps jumping up and pulling down my old white curtain rod/curtain in the cat room - yes, my cats have their own room. The rods were flimsy, so I had a bright idea of buying a shower curtain rod from a discount store and using that for a more durable curtain rod. I bought them to put on my rod. They were durable and worked beautifully! Problem solved.

Minimum clearance 4 1/2 inches in first position. It opens up to 6 inches. 4 1/2 inches is way longer than I need. Apparently they don't include the cross-section of the bar in the measurement, only the straight part. However, I bought the mount from Home Depot and it is much smaller than this one. Ordered this to replace the center support above a French door after our contractor lost the original part. Soft, oil-coated screws snap off almost immediately when penetrating a wood stud. Even with the pilot hole, none of the screws came closer than half an inch to the wall. You may have better luck using plastic wall anchors. After I replaced the screws with decent quality ones, the mount itself became so brittle that it had to be bent across the plane to match the weight of the bar. This…

In the future I would buy "bigger" or stronger braces. They are very light and thin but PERFECT FOR MY SITUATION with very minimal tilt. (hence the 4 stars) Used when the slider is fully installed but a light curtain/bar is present.
