Where to Start? : I ordered them as a birthday present, opened them to check and they suck. The handles of both knives are very poorly made. The blades are set at an angle and the rollers are plastic, not buffalo horn. The wood appears to be the same material that shipping pallets are made of. Beautiful knives with a sharp blade. My wife and I love them, but my wife doesn't like the raw wooden handles. For me this is not a disadvantage, I like that I can now paint them in the color I want. If you are looking for a great set of Japanese items at an affordable price, look no further. I will say that these knives are not for beginners who do not know how to maintain, use or sharpen single bevel Japanese knives.
