This book is good but I found most of the patterns too simple and "square" for my taste. I don't want to try to roll up the sleeves because they don't look finished. I love the pockets in some of my jackets, maybe a few extra embellishments would make me feel better. I noticed that a lot of expensive yarns were used as dress sweaters to give a good drape/to counteract how boxy all sweaters are. I tried substituting another fiber of similar thickness in a pattern and wasn't happy with the result

Although most of the patterns in this book are square designs, there is a good range of jackets suitable for beginner knitters who feel they have accomplished something when knit one.
