Epic Mario in construction toy

My son has been playing with his Mario all day since we got him. The app you have to download is very intuitive and it didn't take me more than 20 minutes to put all the pieces together, my son is only 5 so I had to help. I love that you can expand this starter kit and have an epic collection.

Pros
  • Durable surface

No paper instructions included, smart device required

I bought this set a day early from Walmart and it does NOT come with any paper instructions like previous Lego sets. The packaging states that a smart device is required. The app is called Lego Super Mario and is easy to set up so you can build sets. So I think it's a great buy.

Pros
  • Very good value for money

Spies on your kids - location services required to use the app

To be honest I don't know how fun it is or not, this new product. What I do know for sure is that no app for kids requires location services to be turned on — not even to use the product. Didn't you know that this kit works (works) with a partner app? My child has a Revain Fire tablet that, because Revain has designed a safe product, disables location services for their children's devices. Pairing Lego Mario with the app via Bluetooth - no problem, works great, the device only pairs with the…

Instructions are not included.

No assembly instructions included. So far you are better off than me as I have never felt the need to read reviews. This product has limited play capabilities for young children right out of the box. You NEED a screwdriver to install the batteries, which are not included. This isn't uncommon when shopping for toys, but plan ahead. This kit does NOT include building instructions, you can find them online, but they are NOT included in the box. Every Lego set I've bought over the last 40 years…

Where's the instructions?!

We love Lego around our house and also love Super Mario Brothers and we thought it would be a no-brainer to buy. One of my biggest concerns is that the Mario figure is only included in an overpriced set. But honestly, every set in this series is overpriced and has little to no value. One of the most frustrating parts is that you have to download an app to get instructions on how to build the kit. The instruction booklet is also one of my favorite parts from childhood and collects them. I'm also

A fun way to turn Mario into LEGO

Overall a great set, an interesting combination of LEGO and Super Mario. The starter kit was easy to assemble by following the instructions in the app. It was a bit shaky due to the way they set up the installation sequence, but it worked out fine in the end. I have worked with my 7 year old daughter and 5 and 6 year old nephews. They had no issues with the app and were happy to play around with the final project. Mario is fun and LEGO sounds and actions are well thought out. A few things: 1…

Disappointing. Requires app and lots of help from dad

I genuinely regret my 7 year old son spent his Christmas bonus on this. First off, this set requires an app and you need to connect it via Bluetooth to set it up. After I did that, an update was required. The printed instructions are useless. Step 1: Collect Mario. Step 2: Download the app. That's all. Even with the app, the build was a bit confusing since this set was so simple. It seemed like a few steps were skipped, making an already frustrating setup worse, but it shows you how to put…
