I needed a brown/"bronze" surface mount two-prong socket and it did not disappoint. It is very durable and all threaded holes are absolutely accurate. I have to agree with others who object to "dummy" holes at the top and bottom. I suspect they're a compromise to make casting this box more economical or possibly even possible, but I really wish they weren't there.

Undrilled, unthreaded, incomplete holes near top and bottom. This allows water and dirt to collect in the upper grooves when outside in inclement weather. Seems to be a really strange design. If you pay a little more in stores too, they don't have holes. Just my honest opinion.

If you have a 3 hole block (one threaded hole in back, one on bottom, one on top) they are undrilled, unthreaded, incomplete holes next to top and bottom. Bought this because I prefer aluminum over plastic for outdoor use. Externally it was identical to the plastic box I had, with threaded holes and a knock out bottom. Not correct. In my haste, I decided to drill them anyway - both required holes were down (I have a drill press and a 7/8" bit). This only solved half the problem. The aluminum wells are unthreaded and were too deep to drill installing a standard ring with a nut in it. It took two 2" nipples and two PVC threaded adapters to…
