Bought these for fireplace mitts. We have been using this type of glove for this purpose for many years. The most economical way. When you buy something made for a fireplace, you pay a premium. As I have a cast on one arm/hand I bought these to reposition the burning wood in my fireplace as opposed to tongs or other gripping devices that require use require both hands and yet , it is always an awkward process. Works perfect! Of course, you still have to be careful not to overdo it, as the heat will eventually penetrate the skin, but I've been able to move burning wood with no problems so far, though I've tried not to hold onto the red embers directly. .
