Description of πŸ”§ Efficiently Assemble Your RENOGY Solar Panels with this Connector Assembly Tool

Very handy for the assembly of custom solar panel connector wires. For breaking connections after they have already been locked together. Hard plastic. 100% compatible with Renogy solar panel connectors.

Fits Rnogy brand but will NOT work to tighten Bouge RV MC4 connectors

"so be". Well it isn't - it seems the so-called "standard" MC4 isn't really standard, and the Bouge has slightly smaller locking nuts than the Renogy, and this tool is too big to effectively tighten the Bouge fittings. I will keep it for use with Renogy cables and can still use it for unplugging cables but thought I should let others know it will be much less useful for tightening Bouge RV MC4 connectors.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Having problems

Buy another one, it's junk.

It was only AFTER it arrived that I realized it didn't even fit the MC4 connectors so I bought a huge box from Revain. Hey Renogy, keep up the program, MC4 is the standard, if you make a tool make sure it fits MC4 and not some bastard kid version you make with bigger than stock nuts. BOOOOOOO. Additionally, the pins used to disconnect the MC4 are too rigid to be used without risk of breakage. Pure garbage. If they only match YOUR version of MC4, state that in the subject line, not just that it…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Has a few quirks

The prongs broke after a few uses

I'm so disappointed. I bought this at the suggestion of many people online who added MC4 connectors for solar wiring. I collected the items for the installation and only used them in March. First, the keyhole part is too big so it doesn't work as intended. The open end works great when installing connectors. The decoupling parts are a bit small but work as intended. Only the teeth fell off after less than 10 uses. I have a useful item right now. I would return for a replacement but I was out of

both broke as soon as i put them in the pilot holes to unplug the connectors

very cheap plastic, they didn't even fit on a connector, they are very very brittle and unsuitable material for separating the locking tabs on the solar connectors little fingers snap as soon as you insert them into the pilot holes, before you can even push the clips far enough to unlock them. Save your time and money and buy something better, literally couldn't dislodge a clip with two of them, the prongs snapped off immediately with the force required to insert them into the guides. They are…

There is only one key in the pack

Some reviews said there were two keys in the pack so I ordered a pack. There was only one key in the package I received so I need to order another one before trying them out. While the long description lists one item per package, it's my fault for including reviews, but I think it would be nice if the page were explicit (and obvious), especially when the reviews contradict what's actually in the package . Can't comment on how well they work, but the key I got seems solid. I hope to try a full…

Will not fit all MC4 solar cable connectors sold by Revain

I recently purchased 2 sets of MC4 solar extension cables from Revain. On the same page as the cables, the "Frequently Bought Together" section featured these Renogy MC4 tools. It seemed like a good idea to me. I recently bought a generator and solar panel. This is my first experience with solar panels so I assumed the connectors should be a standard size. Wrong guess. The Renogy tools don't fit the connectors on the cables I bought. I gave the tools 3 stars because they look like hard plastic…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • not reliable

This tool will not fit all brands of MC4 connectors

This tool will fit Renogy and Bouge RV MC4s but not HQST. The round nut is the most diverse. The plastic key round nut is too small for HQST MC4 connector but fits Bouge RV MC4 very well. In the center of the key is another hole in the shape of a rectangle with a circle in the center. This part was also very difficult to install on the HQST MC4, but fitted the Bouge RV and Renogy MC4 very well. I bought a Renogy crimp for the MC4 and it seems to work fine for these connectors as well. I don't…

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some issues

These keys do not fit all MC4 connectors. I bought Revain Prime MC4 connectors and these keys. The wrenches slipped off the gland nut when trying to assemble and tighten the connectors. They slipped so much I could tighten them tighter than wrenches. I was about to return the keys when I realized that Renogy also makes MC4 connectors. So I bought a set of Renogy plugs and the keys fit perfectly. Renogy connectors use a torx wrench-like lobed gland nut, which provides an excellent way to engage…

Pros
  • A few competitors
Cons
  • I really have no complaints about this, everything is fine
