Yes, small. Go up half a size like everyone says. But even if you are used to soft and comfortable slippers/mules like the Merrells, this is not the shoe for you. They look great, fit great once broken in (despite the small size) but the soles are rock hard and not very flexible for me. I'm sure they will last a lot for years and have great traction but they won't be my choice if I just want to give my tired feet a break from other shoes!

The shoes are well made and once you get the size you want they are quite comfortable. They were for my son who usually wears a 10. I first ordered 10 1/2 and they were too small. He asked for 11 1/2 and they fitted perfectly!

Despite all the reviews that they run small, I still bought the normal size. It was difficult to fully insert the foot into her. As other reviewers have pointed out, the hole in the shoe is too low to get your foot in. There are no small triangular stretch panels at the armhole like many slip-ons have for this purpose. If you have very flat feet this might work.
