Secret agents who love to read

Cool gift for a beginner secret agent. Reading is required to take full advantage of this kit. It was a hit at an eight-year-old's birthday party. Unfortunately the seller sent a damaged box and apparently tried to remove the previous shipping label with a box cutter. See photo. Kind of spoils the fun. The set itself is worth four stars. Some parts are cardboard and may have a short lifespan, but there are some interesting observational activities for you to learn about and try. Inside is a…

A little interesting

I bought this product for my 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son. They were happy to be able to use the kit to spy on each other. It was a bit tricky to assemble as we didn't have a mirror for the periscope. My daughter was able to figure out the assembly without adult help, but she found it was a bit confusing. Some of the pieces in the set appealed to my kids more than others. Both son and daughter liked the sunglasses that allowed them to see behind them. They also liked the microphone…

The kids liked the spy part, the quality could have been a bit better.

My 9B and 7G loved the touches that made them feel like real spies (see below). It was liked by children from 5 to 14 years old. But they didn't go too deep into the science behind it. I'm afraid they either lost the booklet or never had one, which I think adds to the toy's ease of use and learning tools. I won't downgrade the rating because of our loss. We were disappointed that the yo-yo mic stopped working almost immediately; it was neat when it worked! Some pieces of cardboard are already…

A great way to get kids interested in science and technology!

We bought the SmartLabs Spy School Sneaky Surveillance Kit for our 8 year old son who is obsessed with spying and its cool tech (our mini James Bond is in the works). He's the kind of kid who always wants to know how things work, so this kit is literally perfect for him. It's great fun with the discreet packaging that makes the spy kit look like a simple box of tournament stones, but it also comes with a book that explains how all the gadgets work and the science and technology behind them. He…

It was great fun from the start but some of it didn't last long

From the outside the box looked fun and my two kids (6 and 8) were very excited to open it. The product is listed as 8+ but we make a lot of science and art kits together so they couldn't wait to get it. -yo was her favorite subject. They carried it around the house and tried to eavesdrop on conversations and they really had fun. The reach of the cord from the earbud to the "listening yo-yo" is only about 6 feet, but that didn't seem to bother them at all. Reversing glasses, they had a lot of…

Spy School Sneaky (and smart!) Spy Surveillance Kit

I liked the price of this item! I have two sons (8 and 5.5 years old) who enjoy doing science, but their focus and ability to break things make me hesitant to invest in anything serious. The actual concept of the set, as you can see in the unboxing video my sons wanted to make and share, is adorable and full of surprises and wit. My husband and I agreed that every item is smart and every inch of what you get is a part of it, right down to the box itself. Would make a great gift for all those…

Science in a Box with Imagination Fun

A 7 year old got excited about his arrival with this set. So much so that upon opening the shipping envelope it arrived in, part of the box containing the bait was ripped open by impatient hands trying to get to the contents inside. Once opened, there are plenty of ways to put the brain into action to take on the full role of spy mode. In a plastic container in the inspectors' "hidden compartment" were spy goggles, which have small pieces of mirror in the corners of each lens. My kid couldn't…
