AC powered electric blankets feel like big heating pads. They get hot and sweaty quickly and make you want to fiddle with the switches every five minutes. A DC heating pad like this is slow to warm up, but its pleasantly subtle presence is like the warmth of another mammal in your bed. It's hard to describe, but it's a feeling of living warmth, not searing heat. I couldn't go back.

Hard Wearing - one of ours is used on our patio to keep warm when sitting outside during the fall and winter. Setting 6 is hot enough to use there. Inside we only use 1 or 2. Our outside blanket has taken a bit of abuse and still works. Heats up fast, hotter at level 6 and softer! Have bought 3 in the last 4 years. Bought cheaper last week. It is sent back because it did not heat well. I highly recommend this brand. The price is a bit higher but it's worth it.

I bought two of these to help my kids get through the brutally cold winter. My kids had never experienced an electric blanket and were skeptical. No longer. My son in particular has commented several times on how warm and relaxed he is all night. My daughter loves the soft texture. All in all it's a hit and the price was perfect. This is one of the best things I've ever bought for myself. It's so soft and fluffy that you can't tell it has wires unless you're looking for it. And it's getting warm! I know it's supposed to be, but for someone like me who hasn't had an electric blanket, it's amazing how cozy and warm you can be.
