Overall good design but could use improvement

Thule AllTrial X hiking backpack very good. The build quality is what you would expect from a bag at this price point. The zippers are reliable, the thread is excellent. The material is thick and will definitely hold up. It has compression straps and hanging loops, a sternum strap and a lumbar strap with wings but is not detachable. But for me it's good because I never use a bag that doesn't have it. It's a top-loading design, but side zips give you access to the main compartment if you need to

  • Zippered pocket for snacks and small items

Commute Worthy - the best backpack for hiking

This rating is based on the 25 liter model. This backpack from Thule is not only suitable for hiking, but also for everyday use and for any other purpose. The backpack is listed as male but I see it fits females as well. In my experience, this backpack is a great fit for medium to large sized men and women. My 5'1" big sister tried the backpack on and it was too long for her to comfortably carry. Pros: My favorite feature of this backpack is the side zipper. The biggest issue I have with…

  • Fluid reservoir and two side water bottle pockets

Some nice features but no padding.

This pack weighs 2.04 lbs. Not the lightest in its price range, but not bad. It's fairly minimalist in features but has most of what you need for a package of this size. The only thing that immediately caught my eye was that the shoulder straps had very little padding. There are lower shoulder strap adjusters, which is good, but I really wish the shoulder straps were softer. There are adjustable chest and waist straps. Where many packs have a wide waistbelt, this is 3/4" wide. However, I've…

Pros
  • Adjustable, detachable sternum strap and stowable waist strap
Cons
  • Damaged

I hate this backpack. It is not the standard Thule design and not as luxurious as most of their backpacks but it does the job perfectly. One small downside is that it doesn't include a waterproof case which is uncharacteristic of Thule and its fashion products so add the price add to the cover if you want to use it in rainy weather. I have a 25 liter suitcase which is more than what I need for the whole day. I have to say as a woman with an average weight of around 140 lbs can be a little tricky

Pros
  • Dimensions: 7.9" (L) x 8.7" (D) x 19.3" (H)
