Something that's common with cheap S-Video cables is that they show a checkerboard pattern across the entire screen. This one is one of them. Product serves its purpose but could be a little better. The S-Video port was too narrow to connect. The images produced are clearer and a little more detailed compared to the normal RCA cable, and a better shape is also noted. Image contrast however. - And sometimes a black screen (no image) appears at the end in the blink of an eye in various games. The RCA portion of the cable works fine. OK, in the end.

I originally wrote that this product does not work to connect my Wii U to my old TVs. It was my fault. The cable works perfectly. The Wii had no instructions for connecting S-Video. HDMI worked fine on my new TV, but these cables didn't seem to work on the old TV in the kids playroom. Turns out you have to change the settings from HDMI to AV for the Wii to recognize the cable.

I bought these to stream to Twitch with my Wii via S-Video. The cables work. Only 4 stars because the lack of shielding introduced some video noise when my nearby connected systems had no issues. They all connect to the back of an old Pelican 5-in-1 system output selector. I took some ferrites and attached them directly to the cable from the port to the Wii and then the ferrite to the S-Video cable and it cleaned up pretty nicely.

I have recently decided to upgrade many of my retro systems to S-Video and have decided to start with the Wii as it offers games for a variety of systems. I connected this cable to a 2001 Sharp CRT TV and it looks great. The video is significantly cleaner than what Composite offers.
