Reliable and fast drive

Used this for my Chromebook so I can install Windows and do things on it. Pretty good storage and pretty fast too. I was able to install anything I wanted without any problems, do MS Office stuff, play a game on Steam (Kotor) and most importantly save files.

Pros
  • Only positive
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

WARNING: Known Issues with Lenovo Laptops

Like other reviews around the web, it randomly disappears from the system and isn't recognized until you reboot. In all the forums on this topic, even with official support from Transcend and a replacement under warranty, there was no solution to this problem. It just doesn't work well. I can't return it because I realized too late that it can't be repaired.

Very good value for decent performance

This is by no means the most reliable or fastest SATA SSD; The 400 series has much better performance (especially random writes and sequential writes after caching) and higher TBW. However, this is the most economical choice you can get - $81 for a 500GB m.2 SATA 2242 SSD with up to 300MB/s sequential writes and 4K around 30,000. I planned to install my system on this drive. but after a test I will install it on my 860 evo and use it as a high speed drive instead. Think of it as a little gift…

Good value for a relatively unusual form factor

m.2 SATA drives are not the most common devices on the market and it is not always easy to find one at a reasonable price . While they're more expensive than full-size 2.5-inch SATA drives, they offer no real performance benefit. Regardless of the price difference, this drive behaves as expected. Space for a few VMs on my Linux machine. The drive came in, was recognized, and provided more than enough bandwidth to serve at least two Windows 10 VMs at the same time. Although this is due to the…

Exactly what I needed!

A few years ago I bought two Dell Inspiron i3050 Micro computers to set up as streaming devices. Out of the box, they were pretty limited with just 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. With Windows 8.1 installed, you just didn't have room for anything else, let alone updates. So Windows tried to do some major updates from time to time but couldn't due to the incredibly limited storage capacity of 32GB. To upgrade these little guys to Win10 and add some features, I needed a bigger drive, and that's…

Failed in less than a week. The system components can be damaged.

So I am very disappointed with this company. You see, when Asus sold the Chromebox 3, they shipped it with a 32GB Transcend MTS400 M.2 SSD. I've had a Chromebox for two years now and the M.2 has started to show signs of wear (particularly post-load sluggishness). So I thought about upgrading to the 128GB MTS430S model. I regret that decision. The first sign of a problem was that the system fans would spin to maximum immediately after the system restore during the OS setup process. However, the…

Perfect boot disk for my Hackintosh

I got this for my Hackintosh (HP Elitebook 840 G2). The hack already had a Crucial SSD (500GB) which I used as a boot drive, it's fast and works well, but I used less than half the capacity of the drive. I added Transcend and the Mac partition with SuperDuper! cloned and then copied the EFI partition manually. I pulled out the SSD and booted up to see if it would work. It worked on the first try. I reinstalled the SSD and then added 2 more partitions to the SSD, one of which will eventually…
