I bought this hole saw to install Moen railings that required drilling through ceramic tile. I was definitely scared as I didn't want to replace tiles. I used masking tape over a 1 1/4" wide area and marked the spots. I also used a set of nails to make a small indentation in the tape to place the drill bit. I'm 71 and have the occasional hole saw used to install new door locks. I was so happy that this holding saw cut through the ceramic tile with just the right amount of force like butterโ€ฆ

Drilled Bathroom Tile Like Butter

Bathroom tile can be a difficult material to work with. I installed Moen grab bars in the master bath with the bar half behind the shower and half outside. The outside was simple, I used a block of 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" birch plywood on the outside of the drywall to align the two mounting surfaces - the holes in the birch plywood and drywall were made using a standard hole saw. at 1 1/4". For the tile, I chose to drill it at "four corners" + with this Remgrit carbide hole saw so that (A) it was easyโ€ฆ

  • Very Impressive

Works great as long as you keep it wet!

Bought this hole saw to drill three holes in 1/4 inch thick ceramic tile to install a grab bar in a customer's shower room. It has very little life left. Here's how we used it to cut holes in the tile: - Mark the center where you want to make the hole. - Place the tip of the center drill on the mark and reverse the drill just a few turns to make a dimple in the surface of the tile on the marl. If you try to just start drilling it will most likely move, so start in reverse just to create anโ€ฆ
