This clock is a lot more attractive than I thought it would be. I bought this for a recently renovated fairly trendy shabby chic bathroom and it is absolutely perfect. Comes carefully packaged in molded foam so no chips or dents. Runs on one AA battery, not included. I can't remember if the product description mentions it being engraved on the back! It is BEAUTIFUL and the epitome of shabby chic. Of course it's supposed to look old and worn but they did a very good job. The rear, which is a decorative grille, may be plastic, but if, like most of us, you're after aesthetics rather than heirlooms, that fact doesn't bother you. Be careful when removing the back panel - I find the plastic is quite brittle and the clips holding it in place can easily break. Look at the photo I have attached to show how much this item decorates the table.

Light green nice. definitely light lime green (no hint of turquoise or aqua) yellow base light green I was hoping for a soft pastel light blue base green in the photos. It's not like this.
