An indispensable tool for door repairs

This is the best product for the job. I'm struggling to install a door spring on my truck. After months of pondering how to compress the spring (other than using tie down straps which didn't work) it worked out great. The tool costs gold money. I installed the spring within minutes of attaching the pivot pins to my truck. Now the door no longer swings open and unexpectedly hits other vehicles. Happy tourist.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Secret

A must-have for steering and suspension tools

If you're replacing door pins or doors on vehicles with a spring retention system, this is a must-have tool. Mine bent in an accident many years ago and I replaced it with this one. I was very happy with it the first time I used it. It's very durable, fits well in tight spaces and does what it's supposed to do. The price and quality are excellent. A highly recommended brand and tool. I have replaced my more expensive previous tool with it and do not regret my choice.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not the best

this tool works. with help.

Item works. I'm not sure if it's strong enough to fully compress the pivot spring. Do this: Take the large C-clip and slightly tighten the spring, insert the spring tool and then compress the spring with the large C-clip. Hand-tighten the nut on the spring tool. When the spring is fully compressed, tighten the spring tool nut and remove the C-clamp. It takes less than 2 minutes. Reinstall the spring and use a wrench to loosen the spring tool nut.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Boring packaging

So easy to install

Had to install a door spring on my 95 S10 and I have no idea how to do it without this tool. The door spring fitted right up to the tool and I pushed it with a wrench until the spring snapped into the door. I may never need this tool again, but it was worth it because it made installing the door spring so easy. There are some negative reviews for breakage, but the tool I received was fairly durable and showed no signs of fatigue or breakage after a single use.

Pros
  • Excellent construction

  • Some cons

Did a great job!

I don't think he was bent at all so I can't speak to those who say he buckled them. It didn't captivate me. It comes in a box with all the other really useful tools that I'll probably never need again. this is clearly not the case. However, 9/16" is a bit too big. In fact, a 13mm socket is required. I think anyone who uses this tool will understand this immediately, and anyone with a 1/2" socket probably does too a 13mm head, so no damage.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
