Solid brass with steel tip. No complaints.

16 oz version. The magnet sticks (as expected) to the steel tip but not (as expected) to the brass body. All threads are very well processed and centered. Doesn't come with a string. Supplied with a spare tip.

High quality at a great price

My old iron solder disappeared more than a year ago and never came back. Finally I decided to look for a replacement. I read the reviews and ordered this brass. At such a low price, the workmanship is impeccable and it hangs perfectly flat for its weight; exactly what a solder should do. It is great.

Always choose 16 oz.

I also have an 8 oz brass and an 8 oz styled. 8 ounces isn't enough for the wind, even behind the plastic tarp covering the porch. Don't worry about 8 ounces. Take 16! In addition, the 16 has interchangeable end pointers and a detachable rope that holds the tip so the plumb line hangs perfectly straight. The other 2 don't hang straight and don't hold the bowstring well. Don't skimp on this investment!

Finely worked and polished

Finely worked brass that works much better than the stone on the string I used. Buying a real lot seemed like a waste until I had to find the focal point on a 24 inch round tabletop I bought from Lowes. I hung from three points around the circle and lowered the plumb from each point. Intersection marked, then checked by balancing the tip on the head of the nail. Worked beautifully. The shape of the bean made it take root very quickly. The point made it easy to see when it stopped swinging by…

This is a 16 ounce brass plumb bob.

First of all I really don't understand how anyone can give this product less than 5 stars because it does exactly what it is supposed to do and has everything that it says on the description. In fact, it even came with a SECOND hardened steel tip! The one I received looks the same as the main picture, not the customer's picture. I'm guessing they may have made two slightly different shapes, but I don't care because I bought this tool to use as a plumb bob. My only disappointment is that the…
