Cannot be installed with bundled software

Purchase of a print server to replace a failed HP JetDirect print server. The PM1115P2 works but was a bit tricky to install. By default, the IP address is set to a static address. You must be on the same network to change this. Most routers etc now use the 192.168.2.xxx configuration. However, this device uses the old default version 192.168.0.xxx. My initial attempts at setup consisted of disconnecting from my network with a standalone 10/100 switch and setting my IP address to a compatibleโ€ฆ

Works with macOS and HP LaserJet but has issues

To start with what I like about this print server: - It supports Bonjour, which makes it easy to add - It's small and easy to plug into a switch - It works (with problems) Now I'll address the problems: - Web Admin does not support firmware updates - Firmware updates can only be performed via Windows - The print server is not available if it has not been used for a while, but eventually connects and prints. You'll need to update the firmware, which means if you don't have a Windows PC, you'llโ€ฆ

Good product so far

I hooked this up to an HP LaserJet 6p and it works fine. As previous reviewers have pointed out, some out-of-the-box setup is required, mainly because DHCP isn't enabled by default for some reason. In order for this unit to work on my network (using DHCP), I connected an Ethernet cable between my computer and the StarTech unit and changed my computer's network settings from DHCP to a static IP on the same network as StarTech (StarTech is by default to 192.168.0.10, so I set my Windows 10โ€ฆ

Nothing is easier than setting up an old PC with a parallel port as a print server.

This is an old StarTech design that still works and works. They provide a software wizard for some older operating systems, but the wizard is completely unnecessary. I plugged mine directly into the back of an old LaserJet 4, a wall outlet into a power source, and an ethernet patch cord into a LAN switch. William R. Johnston reminds us in his review that the device comes with a fixed Ethernet address of 192.168.0.10. To set this to something different (I'm using a static address set by my DHCPโ€ฆ
