Replacement Curtain Cord

The perfect replacement for the cord in a 55 year old curtain rod. A hard cotton cord does not need a floor tensioner, the ends of the cord hang down towards the window. It has a synthetic core, like the original. It's worth getting an identical cable for my application. Buy the right material carefully.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Long Lead Time

Ideal for decorative macrame

For making a macrame curtain for a door frame. That looks great! A little stiff to work with but holds knots well. Will be used again when crafting only decorative items. For my particular use, nylon would probably be better as the threads slide off each other more easily when we push it aside.

Pros
  • Best for niche
Cons
  • Extendable

Very difficult. best in rope

I was expecting a soft cotton cord instead it is stiff and stiff. Have you felt sticky while working? I'm disappointed as it's not what I expected. Also, the knots I tie in it don't stay tight, they loosen almost immediately. I will not buy again. I only gave it two stars because the rope is as described and looks exactly like the picture.

  • delivery was very fast
Cons

Strong durable rope but too stiff for macrame

I bought this macrame rope and although it is very strong and the side is perfect it is quite stiff and difficult to work with. Each project had me soaking the rope in soapy water for over 8 hours and then hanging it to dry to soften it - it worked great but that extra step was a pain.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • No instructions

Additional Review of Cotton Cord

Excellent Cord! While looking for a supply of this cotton cord I came across this spool on good old Revane. Delivery was predictably quick and the item arrived undamaged. I often use this cord for knotting and dyeing. I have several packages from the hardware store to compare. This cord is tighter and less "bright" than the others. It is evenly colored (rit) (soak well in hot water beforehand) and has a good "grip” for tying. Long review for a simple product but I liked it.

Pros
  • Elegant Design
Cons
  • Poorly Thought Out

Great for outdoor projects, not decorative macrame wall hangings!

I have used this cord for decorative macrame and agree that it is not the best choice for this project. The rope is coated and quite stiff so you have to work hard to get it to bend. It's weird when you're looking for something smooth at the bottom of your artwork. However. I'm using this to repurpose a sun lounger and it's perfect for that! I ran the cable about 10" from the end of the frame and ordered more but they sent me a black one. I hope they send the natural color pictured here as a…
