UPDATE 9/29/17: I bought two of these units and even after configuring my main 5GHz router between 80Mhz channels - 149/80 wifi channel and WPA2/AES selected to secure your WiFi. The TRENDNet Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Media Bridge will shut down after approximately 24 hours. I updated the firmware to the latest version that I downloaded from the TRENDNet support site. I even disabled WMM in Quality of Service (QoS). I still get disconnects. It doesn't always reconnect to the router after a…

WHAT ELSE I BELIEVE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT.

*CHECK THAT THE PRODUCT WILL NOT BE REMOVAL FROM THE MAIN SITE BEFORE PURCHASING. THIS SAVES YOU A LOT OF TIME, ESPECIALLY IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. TAKE IT ON EXPERIENCE! 7/18/14 * As mentioned above, the previous product I purchased here was discontinued by Trendnet. Me and the CS rep tried to get it working but it still didn't work so I returned it (I couldn't access the website, and the moment I did. The wireless Bridge didn't want to connect anymore ). All I wanted was 5GHz for my low latency…

Good performance, bad engineering/design choices

Used as a media bridge between an Asus RT-AC68U router and four wired clients, one of which is an HTPC. It replaced the TEW-680MB, so comparing the two is natural. What I like: This pair is fast on ac: connection bitrate is stable at 866 Mbps. Windows reports high file transfer rates between the server and HTCP of 60 to 70 MB/s. It does an excellent job as a bridge between Media Server and Media Center. What I don't like: 1. Compared to TEW-680MB, TRENDnet saved on a few corners: a. Less user…

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Great price

I have an existing Netgear R7000 802.11ac dual band router and bought this media bridge to connect my entertainment system to my network without CAT5 need to run or CAT6 cable. I based my purchase on the most positive reviews and I have to say I am very disappointed. Here are some of the problems I found: 1. I couldn't read the fine print on the Trendnet website that this device uses either 2.4G or 5G, but not both. WPS was not able to automatically pair the router and media bridge together…
