Update: Replacement failed again within 3 months on a 2007 Chevy HHR. The fan motor is fine, but it can draw a little more current than when it was new - and this resistor can't handle it. The HHR forum is full of complaints) It's just bad design by GM. The resistor heats up too much due to insufficient air flow and insufficient surface area. Very ordinary.
