The biggest problem is that the screws are not stainless steel

We have these at home and love them. Two were bought for a new patio and after 2 weeks the screws are rusting and discolouring the beige patio. I'm not happy that I have to go to Home Depot, buy stainless steel screws, reinstall both gates and figure out how to get these stains out of the Trex deck.

Easy installation, no bottom rail to trip over

We have two of these gates, one we bought and the other was a gift from our parents. Gates are lightweight and easy to install. We installed one through an interior door and one in the landing next to the top of our stairs. The gate benefited from adhesive foam padding placed where the locking lever meets the gate crossbar. The foam helps reduce the noise when the gate hits the latch lever. We like that the ground under the goal is clear and there is no slat to trip over. Both gates required a…

Best dog guard on the market

My family has 6 large dogs, 3 of which I take to the office with me every day. It is a necessity that I can isolate dogs individually or in groups from time to time. With the Cardinal MG-15 it's easy. Installation instructions are simple. Installing the gate in a standard door takes about 10 minutes. The locking mechanism is very easy to use and allows the gate to be opened two ways or one way, depending on which installation method you prefer. Structure and workmanship are solid. Dogs are dogs

spiral staircase? No problem!

Anyone who has attempted to keep children off a spiral staircase knows that it is no easy task. This is even more true when the staircase in question is in an apartment building and you need to minimize damage to the walls/stairs. I had already had experience with a cardinal gate at my parents' house (they use it for a regular staircase) and I had a feeling that this or that gate would work for the spiral staircase in our new apartment building. They use cardinal clamps to attach the gate, so…

Works great after two adjustments

This gate is very well made, especially for protecting intelligent children and pets. However, I needed a gate to prevent the elderly, visually impaired dog from falling down the stairs and it was easy for her elderly owner (my mother) to get to the stairs. To do this I had to make 2 adjustments: 1) add homemade clamps to install the gate on the wrought iron railing and 2) replace the heavily tensioned gate latch spring with a lighter spring. I post photos of our gates with their setting. The…

Looks good, is functional and easy to install

I watched the gate for a few months before our son started crawling. We needed a gate for the stairs leading down to the basement. The builder left these open and completed the stairwell instead of putting a normal door on the stair here. I knew we needed rigid gates and was surprised to see that in a sea of cheap, pressurized plastic gates they are quite rare. After reading other reviews about it, I decided it was the most suitable for my needs. Points I think are important: - Attaches with…

Best baby gate among gates and gate extensions

Having tried 3 other gates this gate is by far the best. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than most, but I think the difference in price is small, but worth it. The installation is very easy. The screws that come with the gate are short and are probably intended for mounting the gate in doorways where you screw it directly into the wooden door frame. But if you're like me, you'll probably be installing it in drywall, so you'll need longer screws (and possibly drywall anchors if you can't screw…
