Windows 10 - Only works in DOS command line

This device ONLY worked with my home version of Windows 10 via DOS command line. Windows Explorer does not show the drive. Run the command, go to drive A, directory *.*. You can copy *.* csomefolder and XCOPY /S to copy the directory.

Slim floppy disk reader

Good value. Does what it should. Just used it to read 100+ old floppy disks in Win 7, will be using it on an incoming Win 10 machine. Speed is what we had with floppy disks. The driver is built in, but I had to find and remove the previous driver. I don't understand the name; Delicacy?

Great product for computers and accessories

I had over 100 disks with photos of an old computer from the last century. I needed a way to transfer to my last computer that didn't have a floppy drive. It was the right price for what I needed because if I don't use it again after transferring the photos I won't have much money. Plug and play worked great, photos are as clear as I remember them. This 62-year-old man had to learn a little to understand how and where to insert photos, but I managed. Good product, great price. Many Thanks.

Plug and play - simple. Works perfect!

I bought this model because I found about 30 disks with photos taken with my Sony Mavica digital camera in 1999-2000. I was disappointed because I didn't think I could recover the photos. Just in case, I looked for a USB floppy drive (I had no idea they make something like that). And boom! That works great. I just plugged it into my laptop's USB port and my photos were there. I was able to download them all onto my laptop. This works great and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to…

Not recognized by drive letters in Win XP, Win 7 or Win 10.

Spent several hours getting this "DAINTY" USB floppy disk drive to work. It is recognized as a TEAC drive in Device Manager on all systems. But that's where it all ends. A drive letter is never assigned. On Windows 7, the drivers are installed but no usable disk is shown. The drive is never visible in Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc), so it has nothing to do with possibly conflicting drive letters. I've also tried several 1.44 disks - new and old. Same results. Maybe I have a dud (2 stars for…

Solves a problem Useful for computers and accessories

After 15 years of trying to solve the problem of transferring data from Windows 98 disks to print, Dainty has finally solved it. The manual that came with the device mostly talks about pictures, but the data I wanted to transfer was printed music. However, after I hooked up Dainty, I downloaded the music program onto the new computer, which included a file for retrieving information from floppy disks. Once I've done that, voila! On the screen was a disk with music titles. From there, it was a…

Works great on Linux

Out of the box, Dainty was as easy to use as 1, 2, 3 on Linux:1. Plugged Dainty into a USB port on my Linux laptop (running an Ubuntu flavor). An error immediately popped up in my file manager, and Disk appeared immediately. I put the disk in Dainty Drive and the disk name and contents were displayed as they should. I was able to move files off the drive and then reformat the drive with no problems.3. I could unmount the floppy and then press the button and eject it, or in some cases I would…

Seemed good but old floppy disks were a problem

It was cheap and mostly worked. I think most people buy this to use with old floppy disks in a shoebox like I did; my experience was as follows. Some drives showed files but the drive could not read them. Others gave an error in the middle of copying files (I forgot how slow the floppies were), and trying to copy the middle copy again never worked, but sometimes a reboot did. Some discs sounded different than others and if you hit the top of the unit the disc would spin and then work. The…
