Just what I needed for my 7th grade science classes

Not only was this product beyond reasonably priced (100 test strips for $5) but it arrivede within 30 hours of ordering and it allowed me to provide my students with an effective means of teaching them about the PTC taste gene and how some traits are dominant and others are receptive. Completely aligned with my state's standard course of study on how traits are passed from parents to offspring. Will definitely be buying more vials for my classes in the future to teach this same concept.

Pros
  • They worked great. Used in classroom experiments. The students had fun.
Cons
  • The taste test may be inconclusive or misleading in cases of mixed taste preferences

Fun lab class experiment - get these!

If you're looking for these, you already know what they are for. Used for student engagement in a genetics unit and these worked great. Student's loved it, and the results were as expected. I was able to actually cut them in half to spread the stock out. One caveat - be careful to separate them out or you'll end up handing out two at a time. They stick together a bit.

Pros
  • Used these for a traits lesson, did exactly as expected.
Cons
  • Some users may find the taste test to be uncomfortable or unpleasant

These did not work for me.

I used these for a wine tasting exercise, and they were a total dud. I ended up using kale leaves instead. The product may encourage harmful stereotypes or biases about taste preferences.

Pros
  • It was very easy to use, a fantastic teaching tool for genetics
Cons
  • The product may encourage harmful stereotypes or biases about taste preferences

Lots of fun! on my review.

Of course the flavor is horrible but that’s the point, right? These were great fun with my family! It was fun to see the puckered expressions and then those that kept waiting for something to happen! LOL!

Pros
  • Used in a lab
Cons
  • The taste test may not accurately account for changes in taste preferences over time

Genetics Taste Test

Very helpful resource for Genetics test that I added for this school year’s Bio activity. Kids loved it! It’s a fun activity to highlight traits.

Pros
  • I like that I got what I paid for 100 strips. I was able to use for all 4 of my classes.
Cons
  • The taste test may not be completely reliable due to individual differences in taste perception

NOT a pH Strip! in my review

Works great! Some reviewers are confusing this with pH strips and giving this a bad review, they're not pH strips! Read the title! This is to test if you have the gene that allows you to taste PTC, a bitter synthetic compound, and that works great; I've tried it with around 20 people. Wonderful for biology or chemistry classes or clubs. Or just to watch your friends try it.

Pros
  • Super fast shipping! Product as described... worked great in the science experiment we had planned!
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions or allergies

Great product for REALLY cheap!

Great product for REALLY cheap! This is the cheapest I have ever found this item. I use them for educational studies in bio class. This is a GREAT product. Same product you are getting from other sellers just cheaper! I highly recommend it for testing your friends or family. It’s really fun!

Pros
  • I used them for a science class and the students enjoyed the activity.
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use by children or infants

Great for PTC Lab - my new review

Comes with plenty of strips for several classes. The students have a lot of fun seeing who can taste the PTC and who cannot. I look forward to this lab every year!

Pros
  • Used during a genetics unit.
Cons
  • The test paper may be difficult to read or interpret in certain lighting conditions

Not so useful on my review.

Almost all my friends said its bitter. Since I heard only 1/4 people are super taster, so I am wondering if its truly works.

Pros
  • I used the product to demonstrate genetic differences for my biology class.
Cons
  • The product may not accurately account for cultural or regional variations in taste preferences
