It was amazing 12 holes in the plaster eaves through the wire mesh.

Simply unbelievable. Some reviews made me buy two of these just to be on the safe side and make sure I can get the job done if one breaks or works. It drilled all 12 holes in my cast relatively easily the first time. Still about 3-4 times harder than drilling a hole in drywall, but doable. Gypsum wasn't just wire mesh. it was on an expanded metal screen used for ceilings. The hole saw was perfect and still very sharp so I will be returning a second one.

Pros
  • Also drywall
Cons
  • Wrinkled

This is the one you need.

This was just what I needed after a dual blade knife failed miserably. I had a hard time cutting through the plaster above the cement board over the drywall. Suggest a corded drill as you need to take your time and I had to reload my drill twice to get through my project (6 holes). It produces a lot of dust (which is to be expected). I sacrificed the football to be cut in half to create a dome around the cut area. This helped reduce the amount of dust and dirt that rained down on me. Be sure to

Pros
  • Carbide blade easily cuts through ceiling tiles and drywall
Cons
  • Older model

The hole is too big for the new thin LED lights.

I used it to cut 6 holes in a batten/stucco ceiling. Although carbide grit is the right tool for the job. This hole saw is TOO BIG for these new LED pucks. I installed the lantern and moved it toward the hole. Around the flange is the newspaper that makes these devices "airy". The holes are large enough that the caulking material does not touch the ceiling. I can put the puck's light on the hole so it closes it - just barley. If you look closely at the attic photo you can see about 1/4 inch…

Pros
  • Recessed light kits are available for 4", 5" and 6" lights.
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
