Excellent Product: my feedback

This is an excellent product, tested with Tidal MQA up to 192/24 only. I used the included USB to connect to a late 2013 iMac, used cell phone charger for external power, and then optical 25') to my DAC. I have 4 different DAC's and two HiFi Rose RS250 streamers with a good built in DAC. My familiar MQA tracks sound really good, I think better than any other combo I have tried. I am using my second best DAC, retail about $1250. I was skeptical a $60 product would be anywhere this good and am…

Pros
  • Bought it to have a spdif signal to link it to my external DAC ESS - sound is clear and detailed
Cons
  • It's quite expensive compared to similar products

Crazy good! It's better than my $600 Denafrips Irish DDC

Wow! This was a major upgrade over USB. I run this into my Pontus 2 DAC's I2s. I also tried it on a Topping DAC's I2s and it was also a major improvement. I'm using an Audioquest HDMI cable. Much more detail, sound-stage and dynamics. I can't imagine not using this. I upgraded to a $600 Denafrips Iris for i2s. It was not an upgrade! The Douk sounds better and the Iris gave me severe listening fatigue. Don't let the price fool you. This is a seriously good interface! Best audio purchase for the…

Pros
  • Perfect for connecting Imac usb output to DAC.
Cons
  • Not a good product

Prior to purchasing this model, I was not aware that such an accessory even existed. I was having problems with noise and other factors with the USB input running from my desktop PC to my FX-Audio DAC X6 DAC unit. I had almost given up on it when I came across this Douk Audio U2 Pro advertisement on revain. It features a much higher conversion rate than my FX-Audio DAC. My FX Audio DAC had a top conversion rate of 24 Bit-192 kHz, whereas this Douk Audio U2 Pro USB to Digital interface has a top

Cons
  • It doesn't work with some older DACs or amplifiers

I’m amazed at the improvement in sound quality!

I just received, and installed this device in a sound chain that includes a hp laptop, to Audioquest Cinnamon USB cable to this USB to IS2 converter to Topping D90 DAC to Monoprice Liquid Platinum to HiFiMan Arya headphones. The improvement in sound quality which was already outstanding was far above any expectations I had. Many reviews may not realize that everything in your sound chain affects the final result. This device is a must have for people who have interest in getting the most from…

Pros
  • The compact size and lightweight design make this device easy to transport and set up, ideal for use at home or on the go
Cons
  • The instruction manual is only available in English

Worse sound quality than just using USB right out of my computer.

I bought this to use with my Topping D70S DAC. I figured that the sound would be better over i2s or Coax than using usb straight out of the computer. I was proved wrong. After installing drivers and even powering this unit with a clean IFI 5v power supply I was heavily disappointed with the sound coming out of it. Bass was reduced 80-90%, and while the top end sounded clean, the sound stage shrank considerably. In short the sound coming out of this unit was barely better than just using my…

Pros
  • Mini size with exquisite design, with PCM and DSD indicator easy to show the output format, black aluminum alloy cases look more cool and fashionable, very suitable for desktop audio device to use.
Cons
  • The included cables aren't very high quality

Works Great Without Power Adapter

Mini XMOS XU208 USB Digital Interface Coaxial/Optical /12S Audio Adapter DSD256 (AKA U2 PRO)So far, I’ve only used this to transfer audio from the USB C port on my Mac Studio to my AV receiver whose DAC can process up to 196 kHz audio. The Douk can play up to 196 kHz audio using the optical/coaxial port. Most of my music files are encoded in 44.1 kHz / 16 bits, so I’ve set the audio quality in the Mac’s Audio MIDI Setup app to 48 kHz/24 bits for most of the time. The Mac Studio’s (2022) audio…

Pros
  • The adapter is sturdy and well-built, with a sleek and modern design that will complement any audio setup
Cons
  • It doesn't provide any significant performance enhancements over other similar products

Best value in my whole $4000 headphone chain.

Thought my Gustard X16 sounded fantastic and better than even some $700-$1000 DACs I've heard so I was plenty happy. Saw someone post about using these as an I2S reclocker on their DAC and decided for $55 it couldn't hurt and if it straight sucked or didn't work it was an easy return. Plugged it in to my PC and then into my DAC through I2S over HDMI and instantly noticed the channels were swapped but no problem, just swap the output cables on the back of the DAC and problem solved.THEN THE…

No more annoying relay clicks from the DAC

I posted a question prior to buying this converter. I would like to thank all who responded to my question. My Antelope Zodiac Gold DAC uses mechanical relays so I hear this really annoying relay clicks when music starts, stops or when sampling frequency changes. I needed a solution to keep the signal going even no music is playing. This way the relay will stay engaged. One possible but expensive solution I found was to use a Lynx AES16e interface card to connect my DAC's AES/EBU input. AES16e…

Works great! in my review

Works great for converting USB to I2s for running into I2s capable DAC's. Sounds better than straight USB connection and very slightly better than SPDIF. Use a dedicated linear 5V power supply to bypass the dirty USB power from your PC.Had a few issues with the driver - use the one on the CD packaged, not the download.

Pros
  • The plug-and-play setup is user-friendly and does not require any special software or drivers
Cons
  • It may not support some newer or emerging formats

Really Great USB to I2S Converter

This thing works perfectly right out of the box; it allows me to stream a much higher quality I2S digital signal to my PS Audio DAC. That allows the DAC to playback all file formats natively and in 32-bit (where applicable), and that's a huge performance gain, especially with native DSD files vs. DoP (DSD via PCM). And the parts selection of the internal components is superb; it's hard to believe that it can be manufactured with this level of quality at this low, low price point. I loooooove…

Pros
  • Output interface with DSD ON function can match the decoder that needs DSD ON signal to decode DSD songs, supporting 44.1K-384KHz/16-32 Bit sampling rate and DOP DSD256 at highest, better signal process brings higher sound quality.
Cons
  • It doesn't come with any software or drivers

Does the job but requires frequent restarts.

This device has truly excellent sound quality, but frequently lost the handshake between Microsoft Surface running JRiver 29 and Audiolab 6000a integrated amp whenever music was paused, necessitating restart of one or both devices.

Pros
  • The Douk Audio U2 PRO XMOS XU208 Digital Interface is an incredibly versatile device that can connect to a wide range of audio equipment, including DACs, preamps, and amplifiers
Cons
  • Some customers have experienced issues with noise or interference

Didn't last best in my review

I purchased this device to supply IS2 from my Roon device to PS Audio DAC. Worked nicely for a few months then died. I sent an inquiry to the manufacturer but never heard back. Now a paperweight.

Pros
  • With USB (type-B) input and TOSLINK optical / coaxial /HDMI 12S output(can output at the same time), can work well with DAC, preamp, amplifier or speaker. Adopting XMOS XU208 chip solution, with 1000MIPS random access memory much higher than U8 (500MIPS), and more stable than Italian Amanero solution and coaxial output supports DSD DOP.
Cons
  • The installation process is quite involved and time-consuming

Wonderful Sound on my review.

Very happy with the U2 Pro. Finally my mac mini sounds like a high end server. Runs right out of the box. A bit klunky though. In the beginning it confused the mac midi setup. It worked fine but it took a day to have its output set properly. Also no power off switch.

Pros
  • Product works as advertised. Very happy with it. Conversion from USB to I2S and SPIDF Coax is flawless.
Cons
  • It requires a relatively sophisticated setup to fully utilize all features

It does not work good for me

Tested with my PC , laptop , also with different USB cables. The product cannot be recognized even install the driver. Very disappointed

Pros
  • The device features low-jitter clock technology, ensuring precise and accurate audio timing, for a more immersive listening experience
Cons
  • Some customers report that it introduces latency or delay

Works as advertised

After a bit of set up the improvement in three dimensionality, musical flow, Mico dynamics and overall cohesiveness was extremely evident. This is a remarkable product for the money.

Pros
  • The XMOS XU208 chip delivers excellent performance, with PCM and DSD256 support for top-notch audio quality
Cons
  • The adapter can get quite warm during extended use

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sound great when it works.

To get the best out of it, connect only the B-type USB to a non-shared UBS-3 input. While this device does not require USB-3, connecting it to USB-2 will require you to connect a second USB-2 for extra power. When connecting to a 1-Amp USB-3, there is no need to use the power USB cable, which tends to disconnect and cause sound to drop. Also, do not use WASAPI (even). Use only WASAPI (push), as "event" causes sync issues when HD audio stream is present (above 48kHz).Overall it's a good and cheap

Pros
  • The adapter is energy-efficient, and uses minimal power, making it an eco-friendly choice for audiophiles
Cons
  • It can be difficult to find replacement parts or cables

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Superb sound, great value, everything works as advertised

DoP of only DSD64 works on coaxial and opticalPCM works on coaxial, optical and IISNative DSD works on IIS.USB supplied sufficient power when connected to a desktop and therefore you do not need to connect the 5V.Sound quality is superb. I recommend.

Pros
  • With outstanding noise-canceling and strong sound quality, the Douk Audio U2 PRO is the ultimate tool for bringing a new depth of sound to any system
Cons
  • It can be challenging to figure out how to configure correctly

Not working as advertised

I'm trying to use this to convert USB from a Mac to 24/192 on coax or optical. All I get is 16/44.1 output. If I just use the USB straight from the Mac to DAC I get 24/96, so Mac supports higher resolution. I tried using their drivers on a PC and can get 24/48. It's the same on coax and optical. Tried calling China, but no answer. Multiple Emails unanswered.I guess it's time to return it.

Pros
  • The device offers excellent value for money, providing professional-grade audio performance at an affordable price
Cons
  • The device can be sensitive to power fluctuations or voltage differences

CORRECTION: Change my product review rating from "one star" to four stars. Here's why. After contacting the Seller, I receiving clarifying information to disregard the WINDOWS (only) mini-data disc driver software that was included in the package. This was either not made clear to me in the AMAZON posting or instructions that came with the device, but now I have been able to make it functional with my MAC computer. Hence, I am cancelling my earlier request to return this item for credit.and…

Pros
  • {}
Cons
  • It can be bulky and take up a lot of space on a desk or shelf

Wanted to love the unit as it worked perfectly when plugged in for a while. But then I noticed how after a while the volume would stay low when I start using it again after it stayed plugged in. I unplug the toslink cable and put back - same low volume. I unplug 5v DC and put back in - and volume goes back. Scared my toddler the first time I did that as the volume went up 10X :/ Returning this and looking for something more reliable.

Pros
  • USB interface can be used as signal input and power input at the same time, and with external DC 5V input (with priority) that can be powered by phone charger or power bank, easy to enjoy HiFi music any time and any where.
Cons
  • It may not be compatible with all operating systems or devices
