Excellent capacity, speed and price

I had two Iomegas (my two oldest still work very well) and two Seagates (one broke about a year after purchase and had to be thrown out, the other still works fine, newer, higher capacity but slower than Iomega portable drives) USB 2.0. This is my first USB 3.0 portable drive and so far it's been excellent. It's faster than the rest, not only when plugged into a USB 3.0 port (as expected), but even when plugged into a USB 2.0 port.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Turns off randomly - NO separate issue!

We ordered 4 of these for our corporate video team - 2 for our east coast office, 2 for our west coast office. Both offices ordered discs separately on different days. All 4 drives we ordered have the same problem: they randomly drop the USB connection. In fact, I've personally used Fantom Drives for many years and they've always been reliable. Unfortunately, from now on, I have to recommend staying away from the Phantom.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • No paint required

Computer and accessories won't start normally

These drives are working fine. I like that you don't need a separate power supply. The problem is that some, not all, computers with the drive attached will not boot. You have to unplug it until the computer boots up and plug it back in. I've probably bought 2 dozen of these drives and have 7 left. But I can't use them for the purpose I bought them for. I won't buy anymore.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Mostly fine, but...

Fantom Micronet Drive - DATA STORAGE

I never thought I would see this day about the Fantom drive or the support that came. This review is only about the phantom and not the seller, they only sell what the manufacturer gives them the most time and my opinion. Hard drive out of date, running part time, error messages all the time, occasional ping noise March 14, 2015

Very good USB portable drive (revised)

It works well and has decent speed for a USB portable drive. The first backup run on Mac OSX took about 6-7 hours for 500GB. Subsequent backups take less than half an hour. highlighted. I also bought a Fantom Desktop Drive. It's great value for money, and the company includes all the necessary cables with each drive. UPDATE (Dec 28th 2020) This drive lasted 3.5 years and was only used for infrequent desktop backups. The power cord connection to the device is weak (not a standard USB connector…

Pros
  • Fits many
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Not what was promised. Slow transfer speed

This is a very slow drive advertised with transfer speeds of 1GB to 5GB. Not even close. 0.065GB. Slower than a cheap flash drive. Read other reviews, don't really buy this on the way back

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Slightly torn
