It works well and has decent speed for a USB portable drive. The first backup run on Mac OSX took about 6-7 hours for 500GB. Subsequent backups take less than half an hour. highlighted. UPDATE (Dec 28th 2020) This drive lasted 3.5 years and was only used for infrequent desktop backups. The power cord connection to the device is weak (not a standard USB connector to the device) and started failing about 1 year after initial use. I had to attach it with strong tape if I didn't want to hold it with my hand while securing. The small size of this drive is attractive, but you can save up for an SSD that lasts much longer, or buy larger standard Fantom drives that use 110V power for a better experience.
