It is not polished but is clearly sanded. No discernible texture, but polished metals can pick up some grit from the surface when hit with a hammer. The steel is hardened. I know this because the edges are razor sharp! First I tried a file to remove the curse from them and it just glided over it without biting. Instead I used a diamond grinding tool and it worked.
