Great first forging hammer

Good starting hammer. He moved hot metal. A few things I had to do before I started. 1. I had to burn the coating on the grip to improve control. 2. I had to grind the faces, they are machined and the rings were originally left in my work. I would highly recommend this hammer to beginner blacksmiths.

Pros
  • Solid build
Cons
  • Useless features

Great hammer for the price

Nice hammer. As everyone else said: - The handle is a bit small. - Both hammers need to be repaired. Mine took about 30 minutes with an orbital sander and files. I bought two of these. One of the heads didn't fit properly on the handle and wobbled slightly. Not a big deal as I was planning on replacing the grips with adult ones anyway.

Pros
  • Fits me perfectly
Cons
  • Security

Perfect for what I need

Wow! The hammer exceeds my expectations. The faces are rendered well, note that the round side was so perfectly formed that I had to photograph the flat face from the side. The handle is very comfortable and shaped to provide a secure grip in the right places on the lever for a variety of tasks. My only downside is that there was a sticky substance stuck to the parts of the hammer and it's just a temporary blemish.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Weight

Act. for hand tools

If you look at the pictures this is a well made rounding hammer, 80% machined. It's rock solid, the grip excites me because the fibers are straight and the head is tight so as not to come loose. The remaining 20% is rounding off the machined edges of the flat part of the hammer and removing the sharp edge of the rounded part of the hammer. (A little ribbon grinding and Bob's your uncle.) All in all, it's a good deal.

Pros
  • Great design

Good hammer at a good price

Overall a very good hammer. The rounded side works well, feels very good in the hand and comes at a better price than most other similar hammers. I could touch up the flat side a little (the face is good, the sides are a bit sharp and leave marks if I'm not careful, but I'm pretty sure this is mostly user error on my part.) Some other reviews I've mentioned that the head falls off. I've tapped mine a bit and the head is still very tight.

Pros
  • Very good quality
Cons
  • Very expensive

A bit of a disappointment to start, but now it's a pretty good hammer.

Seemed like a good budget round hammer so I bought it. However, the head fell off after a day of use! ๐Ÿ˜  I desperately needed a hammer on hand so I fixed it myself instead of returning it and not having a hammer for as long as it took to find a replacement. The face also needed treatment, so I took care of that too, changing the shape of the handle a bit and rubbing it well with boiled linseed oil. Well that's a pretty good hammer. This photo was the only one I had with a hammer.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Hard to say

Great hammer but a bit small (face not weight)

I like a lighter hammer when my hand gets tired from forging. I have a 4 pound hammer, a 3 pound hammer and this 2 pound hammer. These are exactly the weights I need, but they all have smaller faces than I'd like. You can see them in the picture, it's the smallest one from above. A 4 pound man has a medium sized face. So you can tell how small it is. Maybe 2 pounds of metal just isn't enough to make a bigger face, but I think it's there. But for all my whining about the dimensions of the hammer

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Not what I expected

When I buy an instrument, I want the quality to match the amount of money I'm spending. And actually I would be glad if I could get better quality for the money I spent on it... when it arrived I had to sand the handle as it was very rough. I also had to sand the head as it was rough too. Very little has been done to make it look like a highly professional instrument. I would appreciate more care and attention to detail being put into the hammer I purchased. Because I could save a ton of moneyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive

Good head, loose grip

Hammer head weight is good. And once the edges are rounded and polished, the rounded side does a great job of moving the metal and the flat side does what was intended. Bad: The handle came off with a few hits. And after a few days of use, the head flew off. This is a blacksmith's hammer, not a finishing hammer, and more work had to be done to match the handle to the head. Bottom line: if you want the head to be well polished so it works well and don't mind replacing the grip, the price isโ€ฆ

Excellent quality, great price

Started blacksmithing in September 2017. Couldn't find a rounding hammer in my budget until I came across the Nordic Forge 2lber. I bought this hammer and tried it. He quickly became my favorite and started chasing goals. I showed this hammer to a friend who lives in Canada and he wanted to try it but unfortunately this company does not ship to Canada. So I got him one and sent it myself. He also loves a hammer. Excellent quality, especially for the price. The only reason I gave it 4 stars outโ€ฆ
