I don't have anything to compare it to since this is the first chalkboard I've purchased for my home, but it more than met my expectations. Quality seems great, size is perfect (I got the 36x48), the price is reasonable and the installation was relatively straightforward (you'll need a screwdriver). All in all it does what I'd like it to do and does it as expected.Now to start planning my diabolical takeover of the planet.

I was worried that this would be flimsy but the sandwich of two thin metal sheets with a corrugated center is very firm and strong. The frame is light weight aluminum extrusion and fits snuggly all around. My box arrived and looked like a return. It was all taped up. The frame had four small dents on one side and one in the middle of the board where it looks like the box got tossed around and bumped something hard. The instructions were missing. Received it yesterday. overall a good sturdy thin metal black board. be aware that if you use it to draw circle with compass if you want to use it for geometry demo (which is the main reason as whiteboard is much worse for this purpose), the pin can't stay well due to the metal surface. I deduct 1 start due to the QC control or handling, received mine with one side bending, and you have no way to make the aluminum frame to be straight and beautiful as it should be after straight it up.

The board looks nice on the wall, but it was a PITA to put it together and get it on the wall. After drilling holes in the wall for the wall anchors only two of them would fit in the holes, thus we kept making the holes bigger and bigger to try to get them to fit in. We ended up taking a big chunk of drywall off the wall trying to get the darn wall anchors in. Finally we gave up and bought some decent wall anchors from the hardware store. I ordered two of these. A magnetic chalkboard is a plus for sure! One I used as is, the other I cut to fit an old mirror frame. I calculated how much it would cost to make my own for the mirror frame, and it was only 5.00 more to buy one and cut it to fit. I got this one partially because it was claimed to have the ability to make chalk pop out. Some chalkboards are hard to write on, not this one. Easy peasy. It was easy to mount as well, I'm only giving it 4 stars because the "tray" that holds the chalk on the bottom constantly falls off.This is a great size for myself and my 4 year old. There's enough room for two people or possibly three kids (if they promise to cooperate, of course) to write/draw at the same time.

This chalkboard was ordered as the "last one in stalk". Never again will I buy the "last one". It came damaged to where I couldn't hang it on the wall and Best Buy only wanted to offer a 15% discount to keep the item. This board is great. The person who complained about putting big holes in the wall to mount it was obviously not handy. Since there are no instructions about putting the holes in the wall for the anchors to mount your board, I'll supply them here.1) Use a 1/4 inch drill bit for each of the four holes. 2) Enlarged them a little by running the drill bit in and out while gently pressing outward - not too much because the plastic anchors should fit snugly. This blackboard's surface is really nice, one of the best blackboards I have used. Drill 4 holes, insert wall anchors, add screws and it is installed. It even comes with a chalk/eraser tray. Writes nicely especially when I use Hagoromo chalk. Other chalks do well too but the Hagoromo chalk rocks. Both blackboard and chalk are highly recommended!

I've wanted one of these for a long time. I finally found one that is big enough and affordable. I use it every week and am about to begin using it daily. I love it.

Bought this for a play area for my grandchildren. They love it. After a weekend of using chalk on it I cleaned it with a damp cloth. Although all the chalk was removed it did leave some faded lines on the board.

The board came packaged very well, and with a plastic film covering the chalkboard portion, so it arrived in impeccable shape. The magnetic surface works with no issue, and the frame made it super easy to install on the wall. My toddler loves the board, the chalk goes on great (we bought colored dustless chalk), and comes off super easy with a wet paper towel. Bought this for my teen artsy daughter to make a vision board with. She's got it all decorated and jeweled up. She LOVES it! Made the perfect Christmas gift for a teenager. Gave her stick on jewels, stencils, and DIY magnets for the project and it couldn't have been a better useful craft for a teen girl. Super good board for it. Big enough to decorate and write on. Small enough to find a spot to hang it.

Lightweight but durable and sturdy. Shipped fast and the packaging was great. No dings or dents or scratches to the blackboard. I purchased liquid chalk for use and it cleans off with ease. I know some blackboards are porous and would absorb the liquid chalk creating permanent markings but this one does not. The chalk holder is a bit flimsy and will fall off easily if moved around or bumped so I don't use it. Otherwise, great product and it is living up to my expectations and worth the money…

This chalkboard is magnetic which is what I wanted. My purpose was so that my granddaughter can use magnetic numbers, letters, etc. and use chalk.You can not even use regular chalk bc it doesn’t erase very well? Reccommended that you use ONLY the whiteboard markers. Actually it’s a certain whiteboard markers. This is unacceptable for a toddler to play on. Wasted my money here!

We have only used the chalkboard side so far, but it’s great! Kids love it. They use chalk on it, or play with magnetic ABC letters on it. I am very happy with it! It’s large enough for two kids to play with it at the same time.

Ive been a teacher for 26 years and now teaching from home. This board is a great value for the money. It was easy to enstall, sturdy (doesn't shake when you write on it), and chalk markers show up great! Highly recommend.

We mounted it in our treehouse for the children. They love playing school house:) We didn’t use the chalk tray that came with it and just built a wooden shelf below it.
