Review on Dell 452 BCYT: Ultimate Universal Adjustable Response IPS Monitor by David Herrin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finally a working docking station

I have two laptops, a personal 6th Gen Lenovo X1 Carbon (Thunderbolt 3) and a business Dell Latitude 3490 (USB-C 3) and was looking for a dock that supports both laptops with 2x QHD displays (HP Ellitedisplay 240q). . Before trying the Dell D6000 I tried CalDigit TS3+ and Cable Matters USB-C docking stations and neither of them controlled my Dell but worked with my Lenovo. their highest resolution. I installed it on the back of the display so no cable is visible on my desk, just a USB-C cable that charges my laptop and connects to my mouse, keyboard, webcam, and Boss speakers. If I would mention the downside of the Dell D6000, the lack of ports (compared to CalDigit): - No fiber optic audio port for my Boss speaker, I have to use a USB connection instead (slightly lower quality) - Not enough USB - A connections. The D6000 only offers 4 USB-A ports, which are already occupied. - No SD card slot - I have to buy a separate USB-C port for the SD card and plug it into the D6000. almost my requirements (with some workarounds), I'd happily give 5 stars given my poor experience with CalDigit and Cable Matters. I haven't run a speed test yet, although it still worries me. So I give him a pass. NOTE. The CalGigit Dock is a Thunderbolt 3 dock and shouldn't work with my Dell Latitude 3490 (my mistake for buying it in the first place). So if you have laptops that support TB3, CalDigit might be your best option due to its variety and number of ports. However, it comes with a hefty price tag of $304. NOTE. On the other hand, the Cable Connect dock was a USB-C dock that didn't work with my Dell Latitude USB-C port, which was disappointing. Thanks to Revain Prime I didn't have to worry about returns.
