Review on Sceptre C248B 144RN: Edge Less FreeSync DisplayPort, Curved Screen, 165Hz, Built-In Speakers, Frameless Design, Blue Light Filter – LED Monitor by Matt Williamson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you are just a gamer, this is a good option.

First, I'm not a fan of monitors. I'm just a gamer who wanted a high refresh rate monitor with adaptive sync for 1080p games because I mainly play esports shooters (Overwatch, Apex Legends, CS:GO, etc.). Also, I bought this monitor on the Prime Day sale for $120 so it's a slightly better deal in my case but even at $150-160 this monitor is still good value in this spec range Relationship. GamesGame performance is everything. for me, and I think it will be the most important thing for you too when considering this monitor. In that regard, it does what is advertised. You get 144Hz at 1080p via the display port (cable included). Windows sets the monitor to 1080p 60Hz by default, change this in the settings under "Advanced display settings" -> "Display adapter properties" -> "List all modes". In addition, Freesync is disabled by default, but can also be easily enabled in the monitor settings menu. I have an Nvidia GPU and G-Sync works fine. Don't forget to enable this in the corresponding settings of the display driver as well. Picture quality. As I said, I'm not a monitor enthusiast so this monitor looks fine to me, but even my untrained eye can tell that the color reproduction isn't the best. precise. The colors are quite saturated and the white looks a bit yellowish-red. If this can be tweaked to make it more accurate I don't know, nor do I care because games look great to me and everything else looks fine. However, I lowered the brightness and red and green to make the white look a little more natural. Because it's a VA panel, viewing angles and contrast are good. I noticed a very slight flickering in several programs (mainly Steam). I don't know what's causing it, but it's not bad enough to be unusable and it doesn't happen often or for long enough for me to care. I'll update if it gets worse. Everything else - with the help of the instructions, the installation was quick and easy. They actually include a decent screwdriver with a magnetic tip. It was a nice bonus. The stand feels solid but cheap, with no height adjustment or pivot. This isn't really an issue as there are 75mm VESA mounts. The speakers are bad, just like any other monitor speaker. I have a strange problem, when I open Spotify for the first time after starting, the monitor goes blank for a few seconds. It doesn't happen in any other program and it only happens once after launch. It's strange, but it's not a problem. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and will update if anything changes. Update: It looks like a driver update fixed the slight flickering and issue with Spotify. So now I have no problem. Easy recommendation.
