Review on Sceptre C248B 144RN: Edge Less FreeSync DisplayPort, Curved Screen, 165Hz, Built-In Speakers, Frameless Design, Blue Light Filter – LED Monitor by Adam Lombardi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great entry-level gaming monitor.

Overall I am impressed with this monitor. I have had Scepter products before and they are good value and you get what you pay for. That being said, just like with any purchase you make, you get value for money minus some compromises. ---Pros: Switching from a 60Hz monitor to a 144Hz monitor is the difference between day and night when gaming. AMD FreeSync works well. Colors may need to be adjusted right out of the box, but in my opinion that's a compromise for what you're paying for. Great input options. You have a DisplayPort input on the back along with two HDMI ports. You can get 144MHz over HDMI, but you must have a newer HDMI cable and plug it into the one marked 144MHz. Built-in speakers, but don't expect to be blown away by the sound. No star deduction because that's to be expected for the price. --- Cons: As another viewer mentioned, I noticed that the monitor can dim. I had two of these monitors and one of them would randomly turn on and off, forcing me to reboot the system. However, after using it, the problem did not appear again. The other monitor never showed any symptoms so I think it will be random. The monitor is not correct from edge to edge. I only noticed this after a few days of use but lost about 1/4 inch between the picture shown and the plastic. You won't notice it if you're passionate about your game, but it will be noticeable once you become aware of it. If you personally advertise "boundless" then do so. -- Overall: I definitely recommend this monitor. If you're just starting out or are on a budget, this is what you need to break the bank with your purchase. Also, in my experience, Scepter products are pretty good and last as long as you take care of them. Feel free to check this one out! A small note on Revain: Excellent customer service in resolving any issues. The first monitor I got was in front of the door and was caught in the rain. Moisture got into the box, but the monitor worked. I felt uncomfortable storing it so I contacted Revain and they helped me resolve the issue with no problems. Kudos to Revain Customer Service!
