width width. Not much height.

I was looking for a 34 inch monitor for work and light gaming. So something under $350 that would allow me to open multiple files side-by-side. Now that I work exclusively from home, the only 22-inch monitor I used from 2005 didn't work. I found this after about an hour of searching and comparing monitors. It's amazing how much these things become a commodity in this market, there are so many brands at different price points. The reason for this. It cost about $350 and required a class size of 34 inches. I received the monitor and immediately noticed that while the monitor is an impressive 32 inches wide, it is only 14.25 inches tall. So I got a very wide monitor, but one that wasn't as tall. For comparison, my old 22" monitor is the same height. I have a 32" Samsung for another computer and it's 17" tall (all these measurements include the bezel). Here's the catch. Since the width is big I can run 2 files side by side as intended, but each file looks slightly stretched to the sides. The text is also slightly stretched. This makes them look a little weird and out of scale. It's ok for a short time, but I worried about what it will be like to be on it all day.I hope I'll adjust.Just for reference,I have a mac mini and a pc with this monitor.pc for work, mac for home Usage. I use my PC during the day and switch to a Mac Mini at night. This is an old Mac Mini and I have a 1080p display set to what appears to be the highest available. I will be replacing the monitor cable with a newer, higher quality one , in hope g that this might help. The monitor itself, despite its unusual size, is sharp and bright. The menu could be a bit easier to navigate and clearer. Apart from that good. I was going to use this monitor for light gaming, but since my Samsung is taller and slightly narrower it still offers a more immersive experience, so I decided to keep my gaming rig on the 32-inch Samsung. The reaction speed is faster. on this scepter and the refresh rate is higher. At the bottom of the monitor is a small light projector that projects a red "S" onto the base. The "S" is a fun idea, but when you adjust the monitor's position, the S is off-center and mine is now projecting onto the vertical bar of the stand the monitor sits on. While it's cool, I wish they had spent the money and effort they put into this device and put it back into the monitor instead. I'll take one with a red "S" sticker and I'll ask for it to be about 3 inches in height. Overall, this is a decent monitor for the price, but its odd size makes it less than satisfactory. Maybe later I'll feel different. If so, I will update this review. I would bet a solid three, maybe a three. I usually buy from a store so I can see the monitor in person and compare it to others that the store has in stock. However due to Covid-91 store fronts and stock levels are shrinking so this is difficult. So that's it, check not only the width but also the height if that's important to you. Something I didn't think.
