Minix U9-H disappointment

Minix U9-H is a total disappointment. After looking at various Android boxes and buying a Skyworth with great hardware but poor performance, I settled on Minix. I believed the ads for using the old UI and Marshmallow for a superior user experience. First, their A3 remote will drain the batteries in 24 hours, about 5 days if the batteries are removed when not in use. I no longer use it and am currently using a desktop mouse. In their forum they simply state that there is no known solution to the

One of the best

I spent almost two weeks researching every Android box I could think of and couldn't decide, so I decided to buy both a Minix TV box and an Nvidia Shield. My personal opinion is that they are very comparable in quality and simplicity. The processor is very responsive and fast. Streaming 1080 videos is no problem for this little guy. I'm running a major build of Kodi along with some pretty demanding APK apps and haven't had any issues so far. If you're buying this box, you really need to…

Disappointed. for TV & Video

I wanted to buy another box as a backup for my Nvidia Shield. We chose U9-H based on excellent reviews from multiple sources. I tried about 6-8 different boxes and this Minix looked very promising. I liked it because it was a real android and I wanted it to be customized. I often use Kodi/SPMC to stream content. A very noticeable stuttering problem occurred when watching high quality videos that were H264 and 265 files. I've never had this problem with other boxes I've used before. I've…

I bought this device and Minix Neo A3 a few weeks ago. The included remote control didn't work right out of the box. Disappointment! Luckily I bought an A3 which I quickly got used to; works like a dream. The U9-H itself was a little disappointing. It often crashes and freezes, and the only way to restart it is to unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. I may need to do a factory reset and try starting everything again. If the device is still locked after this, I will send it back to…

A very nice addition to the Minix family

I am a regular Minix user. I know they deliver the best TV boxes on the market right now. I have Minix x8-h plus and Windows 10 Minix z83-4. Now I got this U9-h because I wanted to replace the x8-h plus. I received the box 1 week ago and use it extensively and to my complete satisfaction. I am a cable cutter. I'm using Kodi and a few Apk on this device and everything works smoothly. I have a 4k TV and have compared this set to two other Minix sets. This is the best device I've seen, especially…

Cannot be used for live broadcasting

The device is suitable for playing local files and streaming Internet content. This is poor or unsuitable for use on live television. Bad for streaming programs through YouTube TV service because the volume for commercials is 2-4 times the volume of the program, so we have to constantly adjust the volume. It also stutters when streaming and starts to buffer - the program we're watching pauses and we have to resume the pause - we have a 200mb internet service that usually tests speeds in excess…

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Something else

I'll start with a field test, although my comments are unpopular with fans: Bend your expectations; Most Android box manufacturers use fork versions of Android that are not fully optimized and their firmware is not always the best (and since their bootloaders are unlocked and Android versions are not Android certified, the device is NOT certified by Google Play Store certified, so you don't have access to certain applications like Netflix, although you can download Netflix, but sometimes…
