Motorcraft RT-1169 RT1169 Thermostat: Optimal Engine Temperature Control at 190F and 88C Review

1st stopped 112k in my 2005 F250. I look forward to another 100,000 with this OEM replacement. In the photo above, the new and the old are clearly broken.

I had some personal frustrations with my engine running at 170*F. Turns out the thermostat was just stuck wide open. Now it's running at 190-192*F and I couldn't be happier.

After installing this on my F2006 6.0L PSD my coolant temp stays somewhere between 190 and 197 degrees Fahrenheit. If it fails while I own the truck, I'll update the mileage and time I had before the failure. If there are no updates, everything still works.

OEM Thermostat Works Like Original! Was replaced when my original (15 year old) radiator finally leaked where the plastic case attached to the metal, there was little that could be done to fix it. The new heatsink is not original but for the price the OEM thermostat was worth the investment. Here's to another 15+ years!

I give 3 stars because my water temp is still not elevated. I flushed my system and installed that, closed everything but my truck only goes to 185 etc. Now I need to disassemble it and check if it works at all. I will update this review when I have results. ***Update*** Mine opens straight to 190°, I have an aluminum 2-wire radiator that prevents my truck from going over 195° and only when it's warm outside. On cooler days I run between 182° and 188°. I find it a bit cold.
